I need a GPS for my senior design. There are a few constraints:

1) Must be headless
2) Must contain USB (mandatory) and Bluetooth (preferred) interfaces
3) Must accept an external antenna

This is for a project, we have a budget of $1000. For our project we need to be able to get accurate location coordinates while indoors, specifically in EB2. Our cheaper GPS that one of our members had already owned just didn't cut it indoors. Secondly, we need the GPS to have an interface so we can dump the data onto a laptop. That part should be fairly trivial.

We also need a powered external antenna. Tech Talk always comes through, thanks in advance.

You thought about renting a Trimble GPS from Duncan Parnell? Rental comes with Pathfinder office and cradle to get the data onto your computer. Not sure about the whole antenna thing or exactly what you need but it's an idea nonetheless. Call their GPS division in Morrisville.

how do expect to get the gps signal inside of eb2 - are you going to run the external antenna outside?

if it must work inside only for demo purposes and no other reason - you can just simulate the data while indoors and use real gps data outside

I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

You know you can get a GPS antenna for a laptop with software for about $70-100 without knowing what you want to use it for that is the cheapest easiest way to do it, and you will never get a signal indoors
