If they actually want to vote and know they they want to vote for, that's okay.If they are coaching them to vote for someone in particular, that's wrong, and possibly illegal.
10/7/2008 1:37:46 AM
thats stupid and will most likely do more harm than good
10/7/2008 1:39:50 AM
^^ DID YOU NOT SEE THAT THEY HELPED A FELON VOTE?![Edited on October 7, 2008 at 1:40 AM. Reason : ]

^ I support felons voting. They served their time, why not? Effectively removing their rights after they have served their punishment is likely unconstitutional, as well as removing incentive to integrate with normal society.
10/7/2008 1:43:16 AM
DIE SON.
10/7/2008 1:43:53 AM
I think any citizen who is not in prison on election day should be allowed to vote regardless of criminal history. They are living amongst society and should have input.
10/7/2008 1:46:27 AM
I don't have a problem with states barring felons from voting. It's part of their sentence, it just happens to be one that lasts longer than actual confinement. That notwithstanding, Ohio's election laws allow for this. Unless the Obama supporters were coaching or bribing the voters, or unless they were encouraging people who were not eligible to vote to register and do so before they could be caught, they did nothing wrong. I don't know what Ohio's laws are now regarding felons -- if they allow felons to vote, fine. If they prohibit them from doing so and Mr. Woods managed to register and vote anyway, then the Obama supporters are pulling some shady shit and should be called out, as should the government of Ohio for having such a flimsy voter registration system.
10/7/2008 2:05:16 AM
When I first read this, I was a little shocked. And laughing. But then I realized that this isn't suprising at all. Obama has been trying to get votes from pathetic people this entire time, so why not homeless felons? I mean seriously, he already supports convicted sex offenders and has no problem with convicted aggressive felons from other countries gaining legal status over here. Eh just another pathetic stunt to try to get a status he's undeserving of....
10/7/2008 2:29:28 AM
HE'S ALL FOR GIVING FELONS MORE AND MORE RIGHTS....BUT ALL OF YOU LAW ABIDING CITIZENS HAD BETTER HAND IN YOUR FUCKING GUNS.
10/7/2008 2:31:03 AM
I'm not sure where i stand on felons voting,i think it depends a lot on the type of felony. a lot of things that are legal now were not legal at some point and if you take peoples right to vote away then things will never changei dont think people should vote while in jail but once they do their time they should be free but i also dont like taking a bunch of people who may or may not know what theyre doing and having them vote, but im not sure to what extent they are aware of who and for what they are voting
10/7/2008 2:40:17 AM
10/7/2008 2:42:32 AM
^that is still no basis to take their right to vote awayits like saying its ok to steal peoples money cause they'll work and get it back somehowin other words it puts too much power in the govts hands to disenfranchise people by making certain things a crime and some things a felony
10/7/2008 2:48:16 AM
this thread is not relevant to my interests
10/7/2008 2:49:53 AM
But you just said it was alright to take their vote away while they are in jail. What, being in jail means they can't follow politics?Or would you rather the government simply lengthen prison sentences as a means of disenfranchising people? The fact is that the decision is up to the states, as it should be, and there's no evidence I've ever seen indicating that a crime has been made a felony in order to keep people from voting.
10/7/2008 2:50:51 AM
so i went to that site (http://www.barackobamatest.com) and answered 48 questionsmy results: I disagreed with Barack Obama 100% of the timeI'm a little surprised it was THAT different (meaning, I didn't think he was THAT bad)guess I know who I'm voting for (if my vote gets counted...military absentee)

^^you should do a mccain test before you vote for him^^i hope you realized the test was put together in a way to make you and obama seem polar oppositesall the questions are geared to have you answer a certain way and against obama's stance[Edited on October 7, 2008 at 3:04 AM. Reason : .]

I'll buy you a Sausage Mcmuffin if you vote for Obama....dammit, breakfast ends at 10:30
10/7/2008 3:05:09 AM
^^^you didnt get the pointhe said it was ok to take felons right to vote away cause if the were unjustly criminalized then they'd find a way to change the lawsso in that case they would be considered innocent in retrospect[Edited on October 7, 2008 at 3:05 AM. Reason : .]
10/7/2008 3:05:35 AM
K I did misunderstand that whole thing. My bad. But really, felons shouldn't be allowed to vote and Obama's supporters shouldnt either
10/7/2008 3:09:05 AM
^ha, no one should vote, both canidates are scary, we'd be better off with no one at the wheel
10/7/2008 3:11:09 AM
NO, WE'D BE BETTER OFF STILL ABLE (POSSIBLY LEGALLY, AND IF NOT AT LEAST WE STILL HAVE THE MEANS) TO DEFEND OURSELVES WHEN THE SHIT HITS THE FAN. SHITBAG OBAMA WANTS ALL OF OUR GUNS.[Edited on October 7, 2008 at 3:14 AM. Reason : ]

10/7/2008 3:27:03 AM
Um... Wouldnt it be better if only the educated voted? Why have a bunch of dumbasses voting and not know what the fuck they are voting for? God I wish there was a test you had to pass before you could vote

blah blah blah people at churches drive the congregation out to vote for whoever the conservative candidate is. it happens on both sides. this year, if you've been following the news, several churches are trying to endorse a candidate (guess which oneeee and you win a cookie) and they're pissed because they'll lose their status as a non-profit.
10/7/2008 7:38:18 AM
I disagreed with Obama 94% of the time.
10/7/2008 8:08:43 AM
Sad and desperate if he needs the homeless to vote for him.
10/7/2008 8:11:15 AM
^^same with me. and where is a mccain test?
10/7/2008 8:24:47 AM
hahaha that test is a joke. I'd love to see a test for each candidate not written by the other party. I think it would be helpful for a lot of people. But that Obama test is a little ridiculous. haha.
10/7/2008 8:41:41 AM
McCain test:
"Your government picks up a Arabic man, a father of a 4 year old daughter, for standing in the vicinityof a restaurant that was recently bombed. Do you torture him, while he begs and cries for his life, and then kill him?"Yes - (McCain Position) No -

10/7/2008 10:01:32 AM
Well, the chronically homeless are often mentally unstable. See:That being said, I'm not saying they should be legally prevented from voting, for the reasons you mentioned. Everyone has a voice, no matter how ignorant I think it is. Such is the glory and despair of a representative democracy.

^ i don't know if i believe that. think about how many people are now incarcerated for drug crimes (instead of just violent felons). its ridic. i think the main point is that laws preventing felons to vote have been on the books for decades and the point of the laws isn't about BEING a felon, the laws are about disenfranchising minority voters. that is the point. and if that is the point, then it isn't about states rights. states rights are just a coverup when the real point of the laws are to disenfranchise voters. therefore it shouldn't matter if 70% of felons wouldn't exercise their right to vote, you can't just keep the laws on the books because the majority wouldn't care. even though i'm not sure if that is true. a lot of people don't even know that felons CAN vote in a lot of states now.either way i'm generally against things that add obstacles to the right to vote on any level. even just requiring an I.D. (open debate floodgates). but thats all i'm saying. except for this is an interesting website http://www.sentencingproject.org/Default.aspx
