Did anybody in west Raleigh see this thing fly over just now? It made a 180 degree turn at around 1000ft near Wade Ave at about 3:04PM.

IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE SON. IT WAS LOW ENOUGH THAT YOU COULD SEE ALL OF THE CONTROL SURFACES MOVING DURING THE TURN SON.

IT HAS NO VERTICAL STABILIZERS SO THE AILERONS SPLIT AND DO ALL KINDS OF FUNKY SHIT TO CONTROL THE YAW ANGLE OF THE AIRCRAFT.

Those B2's are cared for like golden egg laying hens. I seriously doubt it would be performing a flyover, esp for a college (UNC!?) game. Not to mention the flight and matience costs per hour are crazy. Why one would be low over Raleigh, I do not know though.

B2's do flyovers all the time. Flyover's are expensive anyways. The military uses them as training missions for the pilots.

It was over west raleigh twice. Once about 3 or so and again about a half hr later. I was riding the greenway past Meridith the first time and down reedy creek the second. I got picts ill try to get posted of the first time.

I wonder why they were around as they are mostly based in MO. And theres no air shows around that I know of today.

My wife and I were walking the dogs in Umstead at that time, where you can sometimes hear planes from RDU. But we heard a plane and it sounded literally like a 747 was about to crash in the forest, but then it disappeared as quickly as it came. I wish i could have actually seen it....

IT WAS FUCKING BEAUTIFUL.

THE BEST FUCKING PART THOUGH, WAS THE FACT THAT ALL OF THESE PEOPLE WERE OUTSIDE WHERE I WAS. THEY WERE TOO COOL TO LOOK UP WHEN THEY HEARD WHAT WAS CLEARLY A HIGH PERFORMANCE JET ENGINE. YOU KNOW, BECAUSE ONLY LITTLE KIDS LOOK UP AT AIRPLANES. SO, ALL OF THEM MISSED A FUCKING B2 FLYING RIGHT OVER THEIR FUCKING HEADS.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS SKIMMING THE CLOUD BASE AND WENT UP INTO IT A BIT AS IT FINISHED THE 180 DEGREE TURN NEAR WADE AVENUE. IT LEFT A CRAZY LOOKING CONDENSATION TRAIL TOO.

Oh yeah... it was entirely an awesome vision. I was so shocked I could barely talk. I saw it all go down from Glynwood Ave. at a distance and almost went off the road.

It still pales in comparison to the time we got buzzed by a b-1 at an airshow. The motherfucker lit up his afterburners right over our heads. I was 9.

also, my brother used to be one of the head mechanics on the B2 out in California (before he got his degree and became and officer), and I remember being out there on base, and going to watch this thing do it's night runs. That thing was pretty awesome
