eps - encapsulated postscript (a vector format)
svg - scaled vector graphics (an even more awesome vector format)


the png is a bitmap - with the svg, you can scale the logo to be as big or as small as you want it without making it all pixellated - vector files are just a bunch of equations

I can recommend anything fixed pitch size 14, such as fixedsys*, terminal*, some of the older couriers*, or anything in that style... if, in fact, appreciating line art and ANSI art in the traditional Unix and BBS flavors means anything to you... and it should, in my very arrogant opinion
