i'm disappointed with the post-2000 McCain, and particularly over the last few months. i haven't made up my mind if I'll vote for him or not (I don't think I'll defer to the Libertarian candidate this year, because I don't really like Bob Barr, either), but I'm inclined to vote for him just because an Obama Presidency will be disasterous.

Yes, there is a difference, although in common usage, "fair trade" is often a euphamism for "protectionism". As best as I can tell, Obama supports both. That's good politics--pandering to those who don't understand under the guise of "protecting American jobs"--but it's stupid policy.

The $700 billion bailout is retarded. That clusterfuck is the main reason I'm considering not voting for either candidate in this election (again). That said, he most certainly will be able to spend far, far too much, and seems quite bent on doing exactly that.

No, his healthcare plan is not full-blown socialized medicine. It is a step in that direction in several different regards, though, although it is a mixed bag in that there are at least a couple of potential positives. It will extend the taxpayer handout to more people. It will cause insurers to charge good risk customers more, so that they can afford to take on more bad business. I do like his opening the doors to medicines from other countries.

of course, how many tens of billions of dollars is his health care plan supposed to cost, again? (wait, i thought he wasn't going to spend too much). And how is he going to pay for it? Oh yeah, tax increases...in an already fragile economy.

No he won't he will RAISE taxes on EVERYONE. And then ADD tax credits to offset the raised taxes. Guess who uses tax credits? Rich people. Guess who never uses tax credits? Poor people.

His whole tax plan adds insane amounts of complication, paperwork and loopholes to an already completely imcomprehensible tax system. All it will do is sink more money in administering the system, it will raise taxes across the board and it's going to hurt a LOT of low income people who have no idea how to take advantage of the credits and incentives available to them.
