I PMd Fregac but no response yet. Basically I have a cheap Acer and the power connector inside is fubar. I don't have experience fixing this. If it is the mobo or not 'cheap' to fix I won't bother. Need somebody to take a look please.
Basically got power on the ac adapter but no power on the machine. It has been like this for about a year in the closet and decided finally to do something about it. Don't need the machine........ come on Tdub people I expect 10 replies in the first hour 10/17/2008 3:58:00 PM |

THe power connector is soldered to the mobo.
You probably need to get a new connector (pretty cheap) and have someone solder it on to the computer. 10/17/2008 4:09:34 PM |

yeah I just don't want to try this myself. If evan or fregac could secure the part and do it all for like $50 I'd do that
don't laugh
i got it for free

Sure, I'll do it for my usual charge of $50 on DC jack repairs. Just PM me about bringing it by. 10/17/2008 4:16:27 PM |

crap I already did i thought I will again.............anyway no hurry I just needed to know who could.
Is this something that is pretty common? I fix r/c cars for people and know how it is, but I am not screwing around with a laptop.

Is there anyone near Winston Salem or Greensboro that can do this? 10/28/2008 3:07:34 PM |

There's a shop at the corner of Knollwood and Statford in Winston that reportedly does good work 10/28/2008 3:24:35 PM |

Yeah, but how much would this cost to fix? If I had a soldering iron I could do it myself. But I don't have time or the tools to do it. 10/28/2008 3:27:50 PM |

That's usually when people take it to a shop to have it fixed. I'm sure you could call some places and hear some estimates. 10/28/2008 3:37:58 PM |
