I was thinking more of the game theory you pick up in intro level classes, prisoner's dilemma, Nash equilibriums and whatnot.

Yeah, lemme know if you want the book, I might buy it for myself and let you peek at it if you look up random definitions for me like a good boyfriend.
10/21/2008 10:38:35 PM

So is this like for real???Cuz I am a SAHM, and I pretty much google shit for TWW all day.Like between diapers and stuff.
10/21/2008 10:39:44 PM
You'd be perfect, this is definately a stay-at-home job. You need to be glued to your comp.
10/21/2008 10:40:30 PM
Well, I know that it wouldn't be a *real* job. But if it could buy some diapers and stuff. That would be pretty cool. Especially if it's just doing the same old stuff that I usually do. Which is gather information.

I think Spontaneous calculated it at around $12/hr if you answer one question per minute. The trick is to find a time of night where you get enough queries to fulfill that wage.

I don't know what this thread is about but..
10/21/2008 11:28:24 PM
How much of a math or economics background do you have? Are you wanting a rigorous academic treatment of game theory, or are you just looking for something conceptual and pop science-ish?
10/22/2008 12:14:14 AM
I majored in marketing and film, so probably the latter, but if you know the titles for both categories, that would be great.

10/22/2008 12:18:40 AM
These may be a bit higher level than what would be appropriate for your background then, but try looking for some of these at a library and see if any of them are appealing...An Introduction to Game Theory - Martin Osborne (more economic treatment)Political Game Theory: An Introduction - Nolan McCarty, Adam Meirowitz (more poli-sci treatment)Games And Information - Eric RasmussenGame Theory For Applied Economists - Robert GibbonsIncentives: Motivation and the Economics of Information - Donald CampbellThe first two are probably the best, but the other three are also very good.

It's worth mentioning that game theory and decision theory are nothing but some chickenshit math you could explain to your grandmaIt's all easy and straight-forward... the hard part is really being clever enough to come up with the set up in the first place
10/24/2008 2:55:10 AM
Sorry, I don't do finance so I don't really have any recommendations on that one.
10/24/2008 2:56:13 AM
I've pretty much decided, recently so this may mean nothing , but I've been seriously considering at least finishing undergrad CS* and then going grad EconMARKET PREDICTION FOR THE BIG BUX and mostly something interesting enough to hold my attention for more than a few months before I get bored and quit / start fucking off[Edited on October 24, 2008 at 3:01 AM.
