I have 2 fosters that I am trying to find good homes for.

The Australian Shepherd, Ozzie, needs a home that has experience with more difficult dogs, especially herding dogs. He is ~5 yrs old and came from a breeder neglect case in TN. The breeder had 79 Aussies in air line kennels in her basement. We stepped in and got ~19 dogs, unfortunately other back yard breeders got the rest of them before we could. Anyway, Ozzie is a really nice dog. He was adopted but then returned because the owner couldn't handle him. He has been living with me for awhile and I have been working with him and he is doing well. He lives with 5 other dogs and 4 cats right now. He would probably do best in a no-cat home since he really likes to chase the kitties. Our cats don't like it at all. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and all interceptor and frontline plus monthly. He has a high herding drive and would make a good competition dog in the right home. He needs to go to a home that can give him an outlet for his energy in a controlled setting. Many people think that dogs like this need a "farm to run" but that is a misconception. They need mental and physical exercise. You can see him here: http://www.carolinasaussies.net/arph_new/?page_id=757

The Australian Cattle Dog, Ardan, is a ~1 yr old, blue, neutered male. He has a docked tail which is not the norm for the breed. He came from Lancaster County Animal Shelter in SC. He gets along very well with the other dogs at our house and would do best with another dog in the family that he can play with, preferably a female or a male that doesn't want to be alpha. He drives my cats NUTS so he needs to go to a home without cats. He absolutely LOVES people! He needs to go to a home without small children unless they have experience with the breed. He really likes little kids but is very mouthy. He is very intelligent and will do very well as a competition dog too or just a family pet. You can see him at: http://www.acdra.org/fosters.html Scroll down to Ardan.

Both dogs are with national rescues and there are adoption applications that have to be done and an adoption fee of $200 per dog (which is nowhere near the money that has been put into these dogs). Both are house broken and crate trained.

Thanks! They are beautiful and both are super sweet. The cattle dog is a very big cuddler which isn't typical with cattle dogs. They are both VERY energetic.

Odie, how well does Ozzie do with your other dogs?

I currently have a Husky and Chow/Sheltie mix. I feel he'd do wonderful in the house, but it might be a bit much (have to ask the roommate).

I also have some friends who are looking at pets so I might be able to refer him to them.

He does very well with my aussie (submissive male), my alpha female cattle dog, and another of my male dogs. He used to get along with my rottie mix but they have been arguing lately. Ozzie doesn't start the arguments, just sticks up for himself. He also gets along very well with my father's female aussie mix and a friend of mine's male aussie.

So, I would say he gets along well with other dogs but will defend himself if someone is picking on him. He also acts up on leash in public when he sees another dog. I can correct him and make him stop but he will bark and "scream" when he sees another dog, yet if you let them meet he doesn't fight. I think he is trying to scare them so they don't hurt him.
