Can I check out a book from the library?

i found that i am still able to log into things with my still-active unity ID. i don't know if the two are related. also.

Yeah, can't check out anything or go to the gym. Mine doesn't expire until like 2010 or something crazy, and I graduated in '06.

IIRC you can apply for a library card as a non-student

i think i did this back in HS before I came to state, but the details are fuzzy

anyone know better?

It's called Friends of the Library, and it's about $50/yr. At least, that was the cost back when I worked at DHH in 2004. Here's the info online:

^ NO. If you read the thread, ppl said they have IDs from where they were students and they graduated in like 2006 or so and the ID didn't expire until 2010. So I'm wondering why mine was ONLY a year after graduation. I know WHY it's expired..OBVIOUSLY I'm not a student anymore. Seriously.

i graduated in dec '04 and my ncsu id doesn't expire until jan '09 -i've been using it for discounts since - nobody ever checks the expiration date but i expect at some point they will

Your senior year you're supposed to rub the image off of your Student ID and get a new one for free that doesn't expire for 5 years.

Also, if you stay in Raleigh, free bus fares.

It's $85 / year for alumni. $35 for FOL membership, and $50 for a borrowing card. They jacked up the fees a year or two ago. It's $150 for non-alumni.

I have an old one with no expiration date on it.

Never had any problem using it for discounts/etc.

Graduated in '07. My card doesn't expire until 2012.

For retail discounts (except the student bookstore), a student ID from any institution will do. I have a friend who uses his old ID from Ohio U. (no expiration date) in Raleigh. One could make a plausible student ID from a distant university on a computer. Another option is to sign up for a class at Wake Tech, get your ID card, and drop the class in time for a full refund.
