"(CNN) -- CNN affiliate KATV in Little Rock, Arkansas, said Saturday evening that its morning anchorwoman, Anne Pressly, died. She was 26 years old.
Anne Pressly, 26, was a popular morning news anchor at KATV in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Anne Pressly, 26, was a popular morning news anchor at KATV in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Pressly was found beaten early Monday at her home. She was hospitalized and sedated.

Pressly's parents released a statement saying they were "with her in her last moments." They also asked for "the privacy we need at this very difficult time," KATV reported.

Police said Pressly was apparently not targeted but was attacked during the course of a burglary. Her purse was missing.

Pressly was beaten around the head, face and neck. She had been unable to communicate with her family or police while sedated in the intensive care unit.

The anchor's death came only a day after a doctor said he was encouraged by her recovery.

Dr. Clifton R. Johnson said Friday that swelling in Pressly's brain had gone down since she was hospitalized and that doctors had slowly been reducing her sedative dosages.

Police have yet to identify a suspect, though detectives have combed the area around Pressly's home in the Heights neighborhood, a mix of bungalows and mansions near the Little Rock Country Club.

News reports have said detectives found evidence that Pressly's credit card was used Monday at a gas station a few miles from her home.

Pressly had a brief role as a TV commentator in Oliver Stone's film "W.," released in theaters this month. "

My SO leaves town a lot so I spend many nights alone, we have a high tech security system that will scream if anyone breaks in and I have a loaded gun in the bedroom if it comes to that. I'm thinking if the economy gets worse break ins will be common and one needs to be prepared.

Scott High School Principal Bill Hall confirms 15 year old Asheley Mason was taken off life support and passed away Saturday night.

Three Scott High School cheerleaders were killed in a late-night car crash in Scott County Friday night.

Mason later died at UT Medical Center.

It happened just before midnight on Highway 27 between Helenwood and Robbins.

Tennessee Highway Patrol Spokeswoman Laura McPherson says an SUV carrying the four cheerleaders hydroplaned, crossed the center line, and crashed into an oncoming Taurus before flipping and catching fire.

The three cheerleaders who died in the accident were 16-year-old Nikki Hughett and sisters Aleasha and Jamie Hill, 17 and 15, respectively.

Mason was ejected from the vehicle.

Four people were in the Taurus when the accident occurred. Malcum E. King, Jr., 22; Miranda King, 22; and Aiden Wilson, 1, were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Jeweline Ledbetter King, 49, of Fentress County, was killed. Miranda King, who was 33 weeks pregnant, miscarried her unborn child as a result of her injuries.

The news has been devastating for the Scott County community.

Hall says the school will still hold classes on Monday, but counselors will be on hand to assist students.

Meanwhile, the high school cheerleading squad has lost four members who were also dear friends.

Coach Cynthia Reynolds said the girls had eaten at McDonald's after Friday night's game, then headed to Robbins to celebrate another cheerleader's birthday.

They were returning from Robbins when the crash happened. She said the first people arriving on the crash scene were able to identify them as cheerleaders because they were still wearing their warmup suits.

"This morning, I tried to close my eyes a few times, but every one of them's faces just kept popping up, and I'm sure there's going to be a lot of sleepless nights," said Coach Cynthia Reynolds.

She's coached the high school team for seven years and spent several years before that coaching many of them in middle school.

"As bad as I'm hurting over four of them, there's mommies and daddies and sisters and brothers that are hurting," she said.

Reynolds described Hughett as a "comical" girl always ready for a laugh.

She says Jamie had a smile that lit up her face, and her sister Aleasha spent Friday night walking the field for Senior Night.

Meanwhile, Reynolds said Mason was a superior tumbler who would spend all day cheering if she could. "She was probably headed for a scholarship anywhere. She could do anything she wanted to," Reynolds added.

"It's not just girls with a name, they meant something to a lot of people, and it's heartache, but with the Lord's help, I'm sure that we'll get through it, but you know, lives have changed forever," she said.

Hall says there will be a prayer vigil at the high school on Monday at 7pm.

THERE IS NO GOD.

LIFE IS GOVERNED BY NOTHING MORE AND NOTHING LESS THAN CHAOS SON.

TAKE YOUR LIFE SERIOUSLY SON, YOU DON'T GET SOME EXTRA LIFE AFTER THIS ONE SON.

YOU CAN'T RELY ON AN EXTRA-DIMENSIONAL BEING FOR HELP.

SO YOU CARRY A GOD DAMNED GLOCK SON.

^^ So it is God's fault the teens were driving irresponsibly? If anything, you should be saying that because of the first story.

BTW, would you have made this thread if the news anchor was fat and ugly? Does it matter that she was hot [and white]? Should we be sadder because of it? Is the loss bigger because of it?

Young drivers aren't the best at reacting to hydroplaning but something as silly as water causing so much tragedy, really? Is that fair?

Water is silly?

THERE WOULD BE NO LIFE ON THIS PLANET WITHOUT WATER, SON.

JUST AS IT GIVES LIFE, IT ALSO TAKES IT AWAY, SON.

To even ask that question is to declare that god is not all powerful, which is contrary to the basis of most religions - not saying you proscribe to one of them necessarily - but if you did, that would be the logical entity to blame.

sadly, this does matter to many people [men].
What's sad to me is how she died, not who she was.

^religion has no logic.
