is this one of the weaker years in the NFL you've seen?
dont bother thinking, the answer is yes

with many superbowl contenders severely underperforming and no group of teams clearly outperforming the rest, it is surely the weakest year in quite some time.

some teams who are underachieving:
san diego, dallas, New England, indianopolis

the only team taht seems to be playing fairly well is New york giants, and dont even mention Tennessee
honarable mention goes to the panthers but they still have something to prove

Why bother asking a question? Just state your claim with supporting evidence.

Why not? Tenn looks dominant...just not flashy, which is what people want.

personally I like it like this, compared to 1 or 2 teams espn blows its load over all year. You call it weak, I call it extremely competitive

Well, something has to be said about having one of the nastiest D lines in the league

and the fact that their O line hasn't allowed a sack in like 4 games

just saying

well when you compare the last 5 or 6 years where there are 4 or 5 outstanding teams, that sets the tone for the whole league

but now it seems that every team is inconsistent, no one wins when they're supposed to, a winless team beats a lossless team, etc
parity is one thing but at a midpoint in the season there should be clear winners and losers, right now the league is just full of losers

My friend is a Tennessee fan, so he's happy.

That Panthers are doing fairly well.

Your assertion is pretty much retarded in every way.

Bears
they are 4-3 but, the 3 losses are 3 pts, 3 pts, and 2-pts. Should be up there with the Titans. If the Titans havent lost by 11/09, they will when they meet

They aren't my favorite team, but I'd put money on them making it to the division championships! (as long as they keep playing like this haha)

you argument is the only thing thats retarded,
tennesse is happy cause they havent played a good team yet, all the teams they've played are having a bad year, panthers doing well does not make up for a lack of dominant teams like the old NE patriots, or colts etc,

im just saying this is a weak season compared to past ones

agreed, their record doesnt show how good they are

if it were me i'd rank it like this

1. Giants
2. Panthers
3. Steelers
4. Bucks
5. Titans
6. Bears
7. Eagles
8. Cowboys

etc

How can you say the Titans haven't played a good team yet? They beat your beloved Colts. They beat Jacksonville who are supposed to be a good team. They beat Baltimore.

Your idea is stupid because you say it's a weak season because there aren't any super-dominant teams. Either you're a bitter pissed off New England bandwagoner or you're a huge idiot. Just because there's no team that's running away in the regular season doesn't mean it's a weak season. Think about how interesting it's going to be with 2-3 weeks left in the season and there are 20+ teams that have a chance to make the playoffs.

^that is the most exciting thing about this year. The hype that will come around January

Oh and my "what's dead to me in the world of sports" was pre-season rankings. Haha I called in to 99.9 The Fan one day and talked about it.

that's basically how I feel

I hated last season because the Patriots were so overhyped, then they (omg!) lost a game!

more power to the Titans right now, they've got a great defense and nobody thought they'd be so good (at least next week's game against Green Bay should count as a real game... if you think it doesn't, that's fine, we'll be able to tell if they're good or not when they hit the playoffs)

[Edited on October 29, 2008 at 12:14 PM. Reason : it's a crazy wildcat year, not a weak one]

once again IMSTONED you miss the point, first off with respect to the titans their opponets the colts and jaguars are both playing very poorly, and baltimore is inconsistent, so they have proved nothing yet. lets wait till they play one of my top 7 teams before we crown their ass

but like i said theres a difference between parity, where everyone is competitive, and an underacheiving league, where supposedly top teams lose to crappy teams who are not considered competitive

im a panthers fan but when NE, colts, and chargers are playing at top level everyone feels like they have someone they want to beat, right now there is no such team

[Edited on October 29, 2008 at 12:16 PM. Reason : ^fair point, we'll see]

Maybe it's because every team is trying to beat the Cowboys/Patriots/Steelers etc that they all have worse records than you think they should. Now, if the Cardinals end up playing the Broncos in the Super Bowl or something, then it might be a weak season. But it's not even halfway through and you're already trying to say it's a bad year. That's why you sound stupid.

No. The fact that there is actual competition this year is refreshing and the fact that i dont have to hear about the overrated Patriots everytime i turn on ESPN or watch games that dont even involve them is the best part. I like the colts, and they are blowing it hard this year but that doesn't mean its not a great season. There are way more watchable games this season since it isnt a certainty that one team will blow another out.

And as it was mentioned earlier, this will make for a lot of fun come January.

The AFC sucks this year, but the NFL as a whole is fine.

I think you have the Bucks too low.

What with their star QB Michael Redd.
