Got a ~40" Samsung LCD (LN40A500) and I wanna hang it on the wall. I don't really care about swiveling, but I guess the ability to tilt up and down would be nice (is it needed?). I'd like to keep it as close as possible to the wall.

Looks like it weighs 53-55 pounds. Dimensions are 39.2 x 3.6 x 24.7 inches if that matters.

I've always heard Monoprice is the spot for quality, inexpensive mounts but I'm open to getting it anywhere.

I got this mount from Monoprice for $26.00+s/h. The TV is a 42" Vizio. It is a pain in the ass to adjust the tilt after the TV is up. Otherwise it is perfect and you can't beat the price.

^^RTG!-It was the same shit as La-z-boy and Ethan Allen but 1/2 the price

^The way our L/R is laid out, there was no other good place to put it.

46" - i'd say it comes off the same - maybe a little more even

don't have a great picture but you can kind of see it here

it's not noticeably off the wall when watching it - i have my wii mounted behind my tv as well - so i need to be able to pull the tv out a bit to change games - for no great reason other than the component cable for the wii is really big and doesn't fit in the tube i have running down the stud behind it that my other cables are in

If you don't mind sacrificing the tilt option, then Monoprice carries "Low profile" mounts. I have one of these on my 52" Samsung at home and it's pretty nice. I would not recommend them if you do a lot of fiddling with connections behind the TV, because the low profile nature makes it difficult to reach back there.

I can take a pic of mine tonight if you'd like to see what it looks like.

i'm not a fan of the over the fireplace look either. it forces you to sit in such an unnatural position and after a 2 hr movie your neck is screaming. not to mention the picture on the lcds is diminished a bit bc of the viewing angle. someone needs to create a cantilever that mounts above a fire place and comes down instead of left to right.

uncomfortable while sitting but very nice while laying down.

A mount that could extend forward and then had a motorized drop down would be nice.

I agree the fireplace angle ruins necks.

Please ignore the poor wiring. We're going to be getting a shelf unit for under where the TV is mounted, so I haven't tucked everything away neatly as of yet.

From far away...

Closer up...
