Companies that do mail in rebates hope that you'll feel that way and just not mail in.

I bought a laser printer with a $50 rebate two years ago. Never got it.

i used to work with a guy that was super meticulous about keeping track of those things.

he'd keep a spreadsheet of when he mailed them in and when they should be returning. he also made copies of all the documents just in case. what a nerd.

he always got his coin though.

Yeah I will usually bitch until I get mine.

There have been a few big ones over the years I have screwed up and not gotten. There was a $70 one from Vonage, and another $100 from Best Buy.

On those I missed the deadlines.

If I sent that shit in and was entitled to it I will raise all hell until the check comes though.

Besides all the garbage involved in filling them out, I did get my $20 from eVGA today. Took right at 2 months to show up.

actually about 42% of people are too damn lazy to mail them in, even on $100+ rebates on cell phones

its a way of putting something on sale and never really losing profits

has anyone had luck with getting a rebate even if you missed the postmarked deadline by 5 days?

I got a laptop with a $200 MIR once, it said it would take up to 6 weeks for me to receive my money.

I got it like 2 days into the 7th week.

WTF takes them so long?

I always do mail-in-rebates. I don't see why anyone would not. Even if it's only $5.

I won't buy something that is a "good price" after rebate. The rebates are painful to do, and sometimes they don't send them to you, and i don't have the time to waste hours following up on deadbeat companies over $20.

so if the price is only good after rebate, i don't bother.

I hate those things. I forget them the moment I put them in the mail, so I never follow up. A rebate offer for a DVD required me to cut out the barcode, which meant digging out the label from under the plastic. What a pain for $7
