A friend and I were talking today about money and if having money helps, or ultimately hurts, a candidates chances of being elected.

For example: McCain's is married to a woman born into great wealth. This is a major reason He has been able to have such a prosperous career. On the other hand, his 8 houses, 10+ vehicles, and the recent Palin clothing spending spree will hurt his chances at office.

For Obama, he is known to have been raised by a single mother without much money growing up. Compared to his opponent his lives a relatively more modest life. His enormous campaign finances, however, raise questions concerning legality and fairness.

What do you all think? Does money help or hurt in the long run? Don't focus on my examples, they were just to make a point.

hey dumbfuck. McCain hasn;t been married to this woman his whole political career.
hey dumbfuck. McCain was born to a fucking ADMIRAL in the US NAVY. I'll bet you that had more to do with his political success than a trophy wife

i'm not missing the point when it's not fucking there! McCain didn't have his political success due to a wife he didn't even have at the time he started. DUH.

why are you focusing on McCain? Put John Kerry in place of McCain, I don't care. THE NAME DOES NOT MATTER.

to answer your question - its neither.

a lot that should matter, ultimately doesn't. it all comes down to how the campaign is run.

we had the chance to nominate McCain and all his greatness 2000 - instead we nominated that guy.

this year, there were a slew of awesome awesome proven fiscal conservatives that should've been given the nod for VP - they weren't.

haha

1.3 million is closer to 40 billion than it is 30,000-250,000 in terms of modest living

No, it's not. That's his net worth, not his yearly income.

And considering the amount of education he and his wife have, 1.3 Million is about right.

^ Obama wasn't making that much money until he started running for pres. though, from the book he wrote.

He had to take out a second mortgage for his natl senate campaign.

And the link agrees with you.

It looks like a lot of his first big bucks came from his books.

I blame myself for this thread failing. I thought it would be a simple poll.
