why do we need this thread in addition to the election night thread AND the mccain/palin vs obama/biden thread? 11/3/2008 8:37:51 PM |

With the wide spread of biased polls, no one knows what it's going to be. Let's just hope that there are enough Americans with sense enough to see what a piss-poor choice Obama is to keep him out of office. 11/3/2008 9:17:51 PM |

LandSlide victory.
I honestly think the so called "LIBERAL" media is underestimating the lead of Obama. AFter all if it was going to be a wash election, less people would be interested in watching the news and the Capitalist interests in charge of the media would lose money..............................................................
oh knowz the evil corporations have taken over the media oh wait its the socialist LIBBIES trying to fix elections against freedom loving GOPs in favor of america hating Dems
WHICH IS IT i'm confused!!! ahh!

looking at the maps I think it's still possible for mccain to win
looking at cnn, if he takes ALL yellow (which is possible, remember the Bradley effect)
and then takes Virgina... (seriously, why is it blue... I don't care what you think, it's still the south)
he only needs 9 more to tie 10 to win
that's 1 or 2 more states... 11/3/2008 10:25:28 PM |

Ways in which McCain can save his campaign....
- Hawaii 5-0 uncovers the assassin that Obama hired to kill his poor grandma as a political stunt
Get-em Steve McGarret!
- Obama admits to the media before n00n EST that he is really a socialist/terrorist/communist
- 9/11 part 2 occurs at 8 am and a nationalistic fervor erupts in which Bush uses emergency powers to declare McCain his successor.
- The media uncovers Obama had an affair with a 15 year old boy.
- Sarah Palin gets eaten by a Polar Bear and the public reacts to punish all polar bears by choosing John McCain in hope corporate friendly policies will melt the ice caps. Getting revenge on polar bears.
- Cops in favor of Bush choose to drug test all voters before entering the booth; arresting those who test positive ensuring a major portion of Obama supporters don't vote.

You forgot the ability of the Republicans to disenfranchise and rig elections, that is worth a good 4-5% swing in most states, so that could easily bring in those yellow states for McCain.
I would be seriously shocked if McCain got over 200 electoral votes... It isn't impossible, but Obama has the perfect storm for defeating the incumbent party 1) unpopular president 2) unpopular war and 3) downturn in the economy. McCain could be Jesus Christ himself and I still don't think he could win. This election the Republicans deserve to lose, but the Democrats don't deserve to win.
I would guess Obama 344 McCain 194, best case for McCain he still loses but gets 260 vs Obama's 278. Even if it is really close, Obama will declare he has a mandate. 11/3/2008 11:24:35 PM |

Ah guess this is the real thread...
I think I'm going to go with the total predicted on Intrade.
http://www.intrade.com/
Obama: 364 McCain: 174
Also, the 50 shares of "Obama will be President" I bought at $1.12 a share are at about $9.10 now. NC and Missouri futures still offer about a 3:2 and 2:1 potential payoff if you choose the correct contract. 11/4/2008 1:17:16 AM |
