I'm writing a document with multiple attachments. Each page in the attachment needs to be numbered with two page numbers: page number within the attachment and page number within the entire document. For example:
Attachment H: Page 1 of 5 Document: Page 12 of 20
might be on the same page.
I don't want to manually renumber the pages every time the number of pages changes. Any ideas how I can number document pages and attachment pages separately using automatic page numbering/field codes?
Seems I can do one or the other, but not both.
danke

use Section Breaks.
i.e. at the beginning of each section that should have a different numbering scheme or start over, go to Insert > Break > Section Break
oops, just saw you wanted both numbers...... section breaks will get you the Attachment page number. i'll look into how to do both

Yeah, I'm trying to do both.
Word doesn't seem to treat separate page number fields individually.
There's functionality to do equations in the field codes. I've tried unsuccessfully to do something with it. Tomorrow I'll probably Google how to use it.
I was hoping someone here would know.
Thanks for looking, though! 11/5/2008 8:37:53 PM |

LaTeX is not an option, unfortunately. I've always wanted to play with it, but never really found the right motivation to do so.
I did figure out the page numbering using the equation field code. Works like a champ. 11/6/2008 5:07:23 PM |
