If it's a joke, it's meant to be a joke. People don't get on Carlos Mencia or Chris Rock for saying stuff like that. I wouldn't call them a particularly tasteful brand of joke, but I feel like I'm not uptight enough to laugh if it's actually funny (which is a completely different issue).

Let me clarify what I mean by joke. Chris Rock had a bit where he explained the best place to hide your money from niggers. In books, because niggers don't like to read. He didn't call anyone a nigger and he didn't mean to offend anyone other than the ignorant people who fall under that definition of the word. But the broadness with which he defined the word means that it could apply to many people, not just blacks. That is the way I view the word. A broad definition identifying someone as being especially ignorant or stupid. Let me give you an example.
