Quote :
"CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Several teachers in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school district face discipline for posting images and material on the social networking site Facebook that school leaders find objectionable, including one teacher who wrote, "I hate my students!"

District spokeswoman Nora Carr told the Charlotte Observer that officials are recommending that one teacher be fired for writing that she teaches "in the most ghetto school in Charlotte" and describing her students as "chitlins." That teacher has been suspended with pay pending a final determination about her dismissal. Teachers can appeal firings.

Other pages discovered by WCNC-TV of Charlotte included photos of female teachers in sexually suggestive poses and a black male teacher who used the N-word. A special-education teacher wrote, "I hate my students!"

"I would understand a parent being appalled and very upset by the comments," Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Chief Operating Officer Hugh Hattabaugh told WCNC. "We are too."

Carr said four teachers face unspecified discipline that is less than suspension or dismissal. Teachers can be punished at any time for "behaving in any unethical or lascivious conduct," according to the district's code of conduct, and the district is working on a memo to remind its 19,000 employees that Web information should be appropriate.

"When you're in a professional position, especially one where you're interacting with children and parents, you need to be above reproach," Carr said. "I think they just didn't think these things through. That's kind of mind-boggling."

Carr said "several" employees are disciplined each year for material they post on the Internet. The district has an investigator who specializes in such issues, and the district checks networking sites before hiring, Carr said."

This is why you don't post shit on MySpace of Facebook. Just don't do it. Nothing good can come of it.

On the other hand, HA! Chitlins aye? Good one.

I dunno I changed all my stuff over to private a long time ago.

Then my boss friend requested me.

So then I had to go through and mop up some more before letting her in.

I think expect teachers to refrain from doing anything a well-behaved fifteen year old wouldn't do. I grew up at the beach and I've heard tell about parents complaining that their kids' teachers (we're talking 24-year-old women who happen to also be teachers) were wearing bikinis.

On the one hand you should have a good public face, but I think we have this false perception of the innocence of children--and you don't want someone "like that" teaching your kids.

I dunno, I just think people are huge prudes in general.

He promises stronger laws on domestic violence

but in 2007 he made a thread entitled "Face Rape"

Is this someone you want leading the country ?

I also hope that in fifteen or twenty years we won't be huge, uptight prudes who force traditional moral values on young women while we sit in Washington surrounded by our mistresses and prostitutes charging forward with abstinence-only sex education because we don't want to corrupt our children since they're already infested with syphilis anyway.

There must be something better.

The first thing they tell us before we become teachers is to not post anything on your facebook/myspace that you even think would get you in trouble. This includes writing stuff about your students, pictures of you drinking, pictures of you doing things you wouldnt want your students doing, etc. Its fine to have a facebook, just be professional about it. My friend's mom was my sister's 2nd grade teacher last year and she is a milf. So we were out in the boat one day and came up to the dock to find her laying out in a VERY scantily clad bikini (Everyone but my friend was impressed). She got up real fast and came back outside with a pool shirt on.

She was on her own property and could have done whatever she wanted but seeing how she was our sister's teacher at the time, she wanted to cover up to save herself some trouble.

I mean it's just a standard going rule that you should never post something on the internet that somebody may question you for later on...

It's the internet people... everybody is reading and while nobody cares NOW, stuff sticks around for a while.

main reason why my sister quit teaching

She would go out to bars and some of her students (who are underage) would see her out and then tattle on her to other teachers.

I remember in HS we would always see teachers out on dates when going out to eat and thinking god they must get so tired of every fucking place they go a student is waving at them or watching what they are doing.

I don't see how holding teachers accountable for what they put up on a public message board is oppressing them in any way.

no that's not fair. She should be able to say whatever she wants outside of work. It's not fair to hold people to very high standards. Not everyone loves their job.

HOWEVER she probably should have set her profile private and not given it to students or not accessed it at work or however they found their profiles.

^^ You could always run under the "I know how to handle shit" campaign, although the moral right won't like the use of your word "shit". However, I would like to see constant censorship on news networks.

But they don't say it on the internet.

And that's part of why teaching can suck so much--low pay, bratty kids, helicopter parents, and a community that holds you accountable for doing things you're legally allowed to do.

Do they want to fire teachers for living in sin? I bet in some places they do.
