I was planning on taking quantitative after biochem but some of my classmates were saying quantitative is really helpful for biochem. Any advice? 11/14/2008 1:27:41 PM |

yes, take CH 201 before BCH451. There is a reason you should take CH 201 as a freshman. 11/14/2008 2:04:59 PM |

I took CH 201 after BCH 451 and did fine in Biochem. I don't think any of the material overlaps. However make sure you have had both Organic chem classes before. 11/14/2008 3:01:12 PM |

CH201 is sort of on its own from all the other chemistrys. 201 is pretty much straight mathematics, while organic and biochem are straight memorization. 11/14/2008 4:33:02 PM |

^in the course catalog it says you have to be eligible for at least MA 121 (some sort of a calculus)] 11/17/2008 12:45:12 PM |

you don't need calc... the only calc you use is how to derive and integrate a couple of equations but it's just to show you how an equation was made. you don't necessarily use/do calc problems. i'm taking bch next semester but ch201 should obviously be easier (if you are ok with math at least)

As a general rule when it comes to college courses, take the biggest numbered classes first, then work your way down to the smallest levels
you should really be thinking about signing up for CH795 before you take anything else, trust me. 11/21/2008 7:44:56 AM |

BCH451 and CH201 seem worlds apart to me. BCH451 - really time consuming, lots of memorization. CH201 - calculation-based, depends on which teacher you get, easier than biochem, much easier imo. 12/20/2008 5:17:33 PM |
