I thought it was funny when people were ragging on Werner saying he wouldn't fit in Sidney's offense...then he signs with Donovan and the 2-time national champs Florida.
After Wright...I was more disappointed in not getting Werner...moreso than Simmons, Brackman, and the other recruits leaving. 11/15/2008 12:41:00 PM |

I didn't realize Davis transferred. He was decent as a freshman in a conference as good or better than the ACC...

^Everyone freaked out when they saw Werner at an AAU tournament wearing a shirt that said "A 3 is worth more than 2"...or something like that. The uproar over him being a "typical Herb recruit" was priceless.
He would fit great in either system. And I think when it comes down to high-major division 1 talent...if you've got the talent...you'll fit in with most systems. You might fit slightly better with one system than another...but if you can shoot threes, a coach will find a spot for you....if you're a big man, there are three positions a coach will find time for you...and if you can handle the ball, you'll get some time running the point. There are a few exceptions (like Evtimov)...but there aren't many players that Herb recruited that wouldn't also be successful at other programs with completely different systems. 11/15/2008 1:30:07 PM |

But its hard to be sold on a coach when they are yet to be officially hired or even able to contact you. Which is why Fowler needs to at least contact the students in the meantime. 11/15/2008 2:21:07 PM |

Is this a troll attempt? Because the idea that Sidney did less than try to sell his soul to get chris wright couldn't be farther from the truth. There was actually a rumor floating around that our staff was told by Chris that he was committing to them, but his dad in the end decided georgetown. Some other stuff as well....but we busted ass to get him and just didn't pull it out.

In the early afternoon of the day before Chris Wright's press conference, the word from James Henderson is that PackPride reporters would be at the press conference. Later that night, around 7 or 8, an update was posted that said they would not be at the press conference and that they wished Chris Wright luck in his college career. So, it's very possible that his final decision happened the night before.
I'm sure Chris enjoys playing in a small arena most of the time. In my opinion, the kid just didn't have the balls to play in the ACC. Maybe we'll meet in the NIT, which is where GT is headed, and Javi can put an AND1 dribbling exhibition on for him. Maybe Farnold and Chris can race, and Chris can get punked by a kid with a gimp leg. Maybe Julius and Chris can be in a lookalike contest. 2/10/2009 11:31:24 PM |

I'm pretty sure you can figure out that my post implied that Lowe was in it until the end. That would be kinda cool though, if a kid was like "There are 300 some Division I schools and I'll pick one tomorrow." 2/10/2009 11:41:23 PM |

Huh? and. Huh?
He plays in the podunk as shit Verizon Center. What a piece of shit arena. I bet they don't even host preseason NBA games there.
Yeah, I'm sure Chris Wright was afraid to play in the ACC. So he decided on playing in a mid-major conference like the Big East.
Honestly, that is just one of the oddest posts I've ever read on here.

Well, I and everyone else on the board besides you heard that Lowe did anything but give up on Wright. I was just trying to figure out if the talk of you being a herb cockrider was true (i.e. you were trying to make Lowe look bad for missing out on a good recruit) or if you were just as poorly informed as your post made you seem.
So, which is it? Do you have a mancrush on Herb, or are you just an idiot when it comes to the topic of Lowe's recruiting efforts?
VHahaha. I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt.

There was a quote saying that NCSU wasn't as hard after him. I wish I could find it.
Lowe may or may not been at fault, but NCSU was not as hard after him. Probably because of Fowler.
For statered: I didn't care about Herb getting fired, I just had a feeling this would happen. I only defend Herb from morons like you. If we would have upgraded at coach, I would have been perfectly fine with it.

So you get on gunzz for posting stuff from PackPride, but you base your argument from a quote on the internet? How is that any different from gunzz getting his information from PackPride?
And yeah, you can bet that shit was Fowler's fault. As was botching the coaching search and having to hire Sid when it went south. I would say the jury is still out on that hire though, so I'm not going to trying to argue that with you.
As for Herb leaving, I wasn't happy about it either. Mainly because I didn't think we could get anyone better. I wanted someone better, but I didn't think it would happen. You and I aren't that different on that point. But guess what? Herb's gone. Why are you defending someone who is no longer here? I brought up Herb because I've seen you defend him to the death before in other threads, and I can't help but think you rush to bash Lowe so you can prove yourself right about letting Herb go being a mistake. Great. You might win an argument on the internetz. Still doesn't change the fact that Herb is gone and Sidney is here giving it his all. And I'm willing to give him another 2 years to get all of his recruits in to run his system, before I'm going to try to throw him under the bus.
That isn't just me wanting Sid to succeed. I honestly think Herb's leftover recruits are dragging the team down. They're soft. I've seen McCauley, Costner, Fells, and Horner, each take turns fucking up at critical times that ended up costing us the game. Sid's recruits are still young and inexperienced, but I have a hard time pointing at any of them and saying they're soft. Once it's they're turn to carry the team, I think we'll be winning a lot more games. Especially the close ones.2/11/2009 6:14:28 PM |
