due to the recent influx of xbox beta testers and beta testers of a service that will not be named (it starts with t and ends with ivo - not that tivo ever does any beta tests, though...), the people using the roku instant watch box haven't been able to stream at anything faster than "one dot" - the lowest streaming quality.

i've noticed this on my unnamed box... and it sucks

anyone else see this?

You can force full bandwidth/ 4 dots. I did it and mine works like a charm, although I did move my wireless access point a little closer to avoid hang-ups. I cut and pasted this from a Roku Forum thread: "Using the remote, hit Home Home Home Home Home Rewind Rewind Rewind FastForward FastForward (that's 5 Homes, 3 Rewinds, 2 FastForwards), keypresses about 1/2 second apart. You may have to try several times and the trick is to make the keypresses spaced out far enough. (Remember, the last two are >, which are on the bottom row of buttons, not the < and > keys to the side of the select button.) This will take you into debug mode."

Once you are there you select 2.2 Mbps. It works, flawlessly for me.

yes, but then you get massive buffering times i don't have a roku box, but i've heard this from many people

there's a reason it autonegotiates down to the 1 dot streaming

3 at a time is the best

it literally takes a DAY for the movies to ship from the netflix center to your house, so there's really no reason to have more than 2-3 at a time

make sure you get one with unlimited instant watch

i figured there was some plan in the middle that would be the best deal...like not the cheapest but not the most expensive

yeah, really depends how much you'll actually watch them.. i mean, if you ship one on mon, they get it tue, ship tue, you get it Wednesday.. so if you want one every night you at least need the 2 at a time deal.. and weekends create a total cluster fuck of timing sometimes when i forget to drop them off like on a Wednesday it takes the time i'll get the next movie from fri to Monday or Tuesday.. so yea, nice to have an extra one or two for whenever i wanna watch them
