Why is it that the average can of soup seems to contain exactly the same volume as the average bowl?

I always have to eat a couple spoon fulls before pouring it into the bowl, otherwise it spills when I transfer it to the microwave

have you noticed that pots for the stove have plenty of room for MULTIPLE cans which can then distribute the soup in appropriate portion into bowls?

the cans also have clearly printed microwave instructions and state to pour the entire can into a "medium-sized microwavable bowl," which is invariably too small for the can

I congratulate you on having the patience to heat your soup on the stove, but I'd like to point out that "one serving" in a "two serving can" is about 190 calories and just enough to piss somebody off

^ I've had this problem with a variety of bowls... admittedly, some seem to be slightly larger than the can's volume, but most are coincidentally the exact same volume

Are you implying that suspecting a conspiracy between soup manufacturers and bowl manufacturers to cause spillage in my kitchen is over-thinking this!?
