Was working fine on friday and now neither key board or mouse works. I searched google but just came up with a lot of random stuff and tried several with no luck (booting safe mode, different mouses etc.) I can use key board and mouse in setup when computer is loading but as soon as the windows welcom screen comes up they both go inactive and can't get anything out of them at that point. Is there a way without doing something extreme like formatting to get a fix for this? I really need some information off of that computer so hopefully that isn't the route I have to take.
Thanks in advance for any help 11/16/2008 8:32:19 PM |

at worst you can reinstall windows without reformatting..so you wouldn't lose anything.
but hopefully somebody else has a better answer.
have you tried another mouse/keyboard? USB or old school PS2? Tried switching ports? What does it say in device manager? 11/16/2008 8:35:10 PM |

can't get anywhere to see in device manager because as soon as the screen appears my mouse cursor just sits on the screen and nothing on the keyboard is lit up. Only area I can get to and use key board is the setup when it is first cranking up. I am on another computer I have to clear up any confusion. 11/16/2008 8:40:22 PM |

whatever it was the repair seemed to have fixed it.....any thing I should check while i have access to the computer in case it happens again? figure run full virus scan just to be safe but other than that anything to update or look for? 11/16/2008 8:57:31 PM |
