1998 was my freshman year. 1998 was all around a good time to be alive.
-I miss my roommate, a guy from my high school. We'd watch World's Wildest Police Videos every Thursday.
-I miss the university towers cafeteria. I ate like a pig and it showed, but at the time I didn't give a shit how fat I was.
-I miss hanging out with my friends frequently. I don't see them nearly as much these days.
-I miss having a much more flexible schedule. Getting out of classes before 3:00 some days meant I could go to banks and post offices at off-peak hours.
-I miss getting to sleep late some weekdays. I did all I could to avoid early morning classes. These days I get up at 7:15 Monday thru Friday.
-I miss the booming economy of 1998. The tech bubble was growing and the value of dot-com stocks seemed limitless.
-I'm not a democrat but I do miss Clinton; his shenanigans kept things interesting.
-I miss our preoccupation with stupid shit, lacking a fear-mongering administration and a pointless war to think about.
-I miss how people weren't quite as paranoid about security. My high school didn't have metal detectors, I.D. badges, or cameras. Anyone could go right to the boarding gate at the airport, not just ticketed passengers. I could carry a pocket knife onto a plane.
-Gasoline was about $1 a gallon if I remember correctly. Food was cheaper, too.

5 years ago i was living in the dorms with a roommate i new from middle school. we were both pretty big potheads. Most of these are all centered around smoking because that's what we were into. I dont smoke much anymore but its always fun to think back no matter how stupid. Things i miss...

-fearlessly smoking in our room at Lee Hall.
-my 21 year old Lee Hall suite mates that bought us beer every weekend.
-staying up until all hours of the night playing penny poker with everyone in my suite.
-taking bong rips and playing Fifa 04 with two guys at the very end up the hall during the middle of the afternoon.
