I'm going in for an appointment tomorrow since i have serious sleeping problems. What are the chances i can walk out with some decent sleep meds?

I've had sleeping problems for years. Meds are great until you become completely dependent on them. I'd suggest finding a way to expend a lot of energy before you go to sleep. Try changing your environment - keeping it really cold/hot/bright/pitch black/silent/noisy. I used to run as hard as i could down my street back home, then all the way back and immediately go to bed. Would cut down like 45 minutes of staring at my wall wondering if i'd see the sun come up or not.

all in all, the SHC will probably give you semi decent ones and if you are good & consistent at complaining, better ones. Chances are they don't want to be bothered with you if you're looking for a quick temporary fix and not psychological solution to your sleeping stuff.

yeah tell me about it. I can't tell you the last time i slept for more than 6 hours. I probably get more than 4 hours 2 days a week. My problem is that i have trouble getting to sleep and trouble staying asleep, so i can't just take something to knock myself out or something that lasts. Fuck doubling up or stronger long lasting. I like to know that its possible for me to get to sleep if i'm without medication for whatever reason.

i won't always have a problem sleeping for more than 6 hours, but sometimes even that will leave me tired 10 hours later or unable to sleep the next night

every day you wake up outside of a normal cycle, it takes your body 14 days of normal cycles to recover back to 100% of what it was that first day. Its probably not a noticeable difference until you start having crazy sleep schedules 5 days for a long period of time, which is probably what your problem is.

Theres no problem with sleep driving, your body is functioning as it would normally, you just aren't aware of any of your actions. Its like the memory of being black out drunk. Its completely disconnected but its not like you were dead when you were black out drunk. The big problem with ambien its purpose is to knock you out, so if you resist that in any way and stay awake all of the side effects will SERIOUSLY fuck with your conscious mind.

it was no problem, until i bumped into a car filled with huge guys at 230am.

luckily, there was no damage done, and they were cool, so i immediately drove home and, as mentioned, have never taken ambien (zolpidem) or any other 'hypnotic' since.

it probably is a combonation of a bad sleeping schedule and increased stress in my life, but meds will at least help give me that push in the right direction

honestly, the best nonhabitforming med to encourage sleep is benadryl (diphenhydramine) the main ingredient in any overthecounter sleep med (tylenol/advil pm etc.)

If you don't attempt to go to sleep until 3 every day and have things to do during regular morning hours don't expect ambien to help. You'll just become even more dependent on it to fall asleep at any time. Yeah definitely get Benadryl before anything else.

Other than that, try to go to sleep earlier and wake up earlier so that you get tired earlier.

in addition, any prescription sleep med has a VERY highly likely chance of you not remembering the first few hours of your morning, which can prove devastating depending on your daily schedule.

like i said getting that full cycle and not having to wake up for a 9am class when you're going to bed at 4 will help more than anything. Especially if on the days that you don't have early classes you sleep till like 2pm. not saying you do, just speaking from experience

nowadays i've pretty much trained myself to be incapable of going to sleep without some sort of background noise. Just try eating something or working out heavily. Everytime i move in bed i can pretty much add another 10 minutes to how long i'm going to be awake, so after 20 minutes of making sure my alarm clock is set, the front door is locked, outside light is off and all the bullshit that my ADD brain thinks of i end up starting at the clock for like another hour.

i always find it easiest just to stay up all night and/or physically exhaust yourself the day before.

with adequate action, sleep is never a problem.

this summer i worked 3:30 to 12:00 pm 6 sometimes 7 days a week so my schedule was set and i didn't really have a problem. Its mostly the jumpy school bullshit that fucks with my schedule. Going to sleep early some days and super late others.

plus now i have to maintain a high post/day count

yeah weed was a very small factor in that. but i legitimately thought i was going insane, and would have some pretty intense delusional thoughts as i fell asleep along the lines of 'the past was a manifestation of my future' or 'i had already died and everything that i had experienced was just the after life' those are the only ones that i remember making sense. the other ones were just kind of ridiculous no idea how that shit seemed logical at the time lol

since i quit smokin a couple months ago, all of my dreams have in some way involved me doing drugs and destroying that which matters most, be it glasses, iphone, family, safety, etc.

i wake up way too early scared shitless, takes a good 30min of walkin round naked to get it off my mind before i wander back to bed and tap the lucky hottie still sleeping like a lamb . . .

yeah drugs are bad. I used to wake up to sleep paralysis a couple times a month. Usually it would happen if i laid around after waking up the first time and went back and forth out of consciousness. anyways eventually i'd try to get out of bed and none of my limbs would move, then skeletons would start grabbing at my body and i'd scream for help usually able to see or hear someone in the house ignore my pleas then i'd wake up all freaked out.

fuck sleep paralysis and fuck your page 1 screenshot attempt

that's creepy, i must say i've never suffered from sleep paralysis. but i also must mention that i have no desire of making a screenshot, have done it too many times in the past, just seeing my name repeated is enough satisfaction for me, i have no desire to gloat. . .just lookin to [pad].

i CAN fall asleep. that is the problem. i can sleep all the time. i can sleep if i take 6 hour naps during the day. i could probably sleep for 3294873298 days straight. i could drink 900 redbulls and fall asleep.

and when i wake up

I'M STILL FREAKING TIRED.

grrrr
