Barrow was an important part of Virginia's 2006 team that won the national championship. Appearing in every game at midfielder, he had seven goals and two assists. After a senior campaign in which he captained the Virginia squad that reached the Final Four, Barrow was selected 11th overall in the Major League Lacrosse draft by the Chicago Machine. He was a three-year starter on the football team and set a school record with 22 career interceptions. Barrow was MVP of the 2004 Outback Steakhouse Empire Challenge, an all-star football game between New York City and Long Island schools. In lacrosse, Barrow scored 40 goals as a senior and was an honorable mention All-American.
Barrow was thrust into the spotlight as a fixture on Virginia's team and earned a reputation as one of the nation's fastest and most athletic defensive midfielders.
