11/25/2008 5:56:30 PM
my heat is set to 68°Fi'd have it on 65&def;F if i had an apartment, but with the house, even with the vents closed in the rooms i don't use, 68°F is pretty mandatory to keep it 65°F everywherelast month's power bill was $70, the month before was $50but i also have a plasma tv, an HTPC that's on all the time, a server that's on all the time, and washer/dryer, and i cook a lot using my stove/oven

i have one of those programmable thermostats...but i've never bothered to actually set it upanyone know, or have an idea, of whether or not they're actually efficient? in that, if i set the thermostat for 63°F for 9 hours a day, and then have it set for 68°F for the other 15 hours...will i save money or will the cost of warming it up by 5°F every day cost more?
11/25/2008 6:07:08 PM
programmable thermostatbumps to 67 @4amdrops to 63 at 9? amup to 67 somewhere between 4 and 7 - I forget whenand drops to 62 at 11pmI don't mess with it.

Yall are high maintenance by my standards.
11/25/2008 6:08:30 PM
id have sex with a programmable thermostat
11/25/2008 6:08:33 PM
when i lived in my apartment i rarely had to even turn on the heat. i was on a middle floor so it was always warm in my apartment...half the time i had the windows open, too. my room here is freezing for some reason, though...the thermostat stays around 68/69
11/25/2008 6:09:45 PM
generally i leave mine at an indicated 70, but its an old thermostat, so the actual temperature in my place is closer to 65.
11/25/2008 6:10:20 PM
^ that is how minE is
11/25/2008 6:16:44 PM
I prefer my place to be freezing cold. That's what fireplaces and blankets are for. When I lived by myself I think I only turned the heat on when my girlfriend bitched enough...When I had a place at The Links with a couple people we hardly ever used it. In fact, I seriously don't know if we did ever...I used the AC like it was going out of style in the summer though... much to the chagrin of someone on here.
11/25/2008 6:18:51 PM
mine's set on 64it's a little chilly when you get out of the shower, but otherwise it's fine
11/25/2008 6:20:56 PM
it'd be colder, except the animals seem to like it not cold
11/25/2008 6:21:45 PM
Animals.... Are you kidding? Shit if I can be cold their asses will too.
11/25/2008 6:22:36 PM
have it set to come on when it drops to 60...usually only on for a couple hours in the eveningsnever on at night
11/25/2008 6:22:39 PM

House heat is set at 55 or so. I often let the electric heater bring my room up to 65, sometimes 70. It's right around 60 currently. I never leave the heater on while sleeping, so it's usually in the 50s when I wake. I hate the winter. I can do energy conservation in the summer just fine. 77 degrees? Great. But the cold kills me.[Edited on November 25, 2008 at 7:08 PM. Reason : fail]
11/25/2008 6:45:20 PM
fuck saving money, I like to be warm.
11/25/2008 6:46:24 PM
11/25/2008 6:51:49 PM
I live in a campus dorm. The vents are always blowing moderate-temperature air on Low.
11/25/2008 6:54:01 PM
My bf and I are both cold all the time, so we set it to 75 when we get up in the morning, then down to about 70 at night while we huddle under the comforter.
11/25/2008 6:55:45 PM
set on 70.
11/25/2008 6:58:11 PM
heat set to 72 in the winter....A/C set to 68 in the summer.
11/25/2008 7:21:40 PM
60-65 typically, keep it 68-70 ideally, maybe a little cooler... (ideal, but right now the thermo is downstairs so the upstairs gets really really warm 76+)summer - 74-76 at night, day 78 or so... keep it below 80 inside.
