I used to have a really old toaster oven (always hated toasters).

One day I came into the apartment, set down some groceries on the counter and went to get more.

Cam eback within 10 minutes and the whole apartment was filled with smoke. I figured out that one of the bags was holding down the button on the toaster oven. The whole oven was black and part of the meat in my bag had already been browned.

I don't buy bread anymore.

I'll trade you my 4 slicer for your 2 slicer. A 4-slice toaster is too big for me. I don't think I have had bread for a couple months too.

yeah, until you want to put a small pizza in there, or two large slices of round loaf bread....

Anyone been to a restaurant where they have toasters on each table so you can toast-your-own? (just the way you like it...)

as far as toast count goes, I believe this is the toaster of the topic. small pizzas or large slices don't fit. takes up too much counter space.

Vertical toasters are the lose.
Toast made from "regular american bread" (read: not real bread) is about the only thing they can do. (And the spring thingy WILL break after the warranty runs out.) You can't really see the toast to know how toasted it is. You can't store anything on top of them. They can't be under-cabinet style. I could go on. [/serious business]

...you can't put things on the toast before toasting it: peanutbutter for instance.

^^
cold? ew.
I like my toast lightly browned and warm, so the butter melts all over. mmmmmm...

"european"?
No, I've never even been to europe.
....just because american bread isn't "real" doesn't mean it isn't tasty

What's this "vertical toaster" bullshit? It's either a "toaster" or a "toaster oven."
