So waitThey're charging businesses to be listed? Or they're charging users to access the site?Sucks either way, citysearch is was useful.

I'm sure this will end well for them.

^it will end well for them...in a manner of speaking. They probably aren't profitable via ads like pretty much ALL social sites. (Even though they're not quite a facebook but they are a social networking site in a way). So they'll either start to turn a profit by charging their clients OR they'll tank in which way the investors can stop sinking money into it.

Holy shit. $2 every single time one person looks at your info? That is ridiculous.

that is fucking insane. i figured $.10 or something max

yea it is kinda high. if it were as popular as google, it would be a good price.but then again, how many people use city search. plus, those are direct clicks, so folks kinda have to see your information.good for businesses that are popular now with a lot of reviews. not so much newcomers who are gonna have to pay to get reviewed. plenty of other sites out there that are free.

Every time I've ever been on CitySearch it's been 100% accidental and I get off there as soon as possible.I'd hate to think that that would cost someone $2.[Edited on December 5, 2008 at 11:45 AM. Reason : .]
