Hey, everyone,
I just built a new computer, but I'm having some trouble getting it to connect to the Internet. I just installed Windows XP Pro on it, and activated it.
I plugged my network cable into the onboard LAN adapter, and the LEDs on the back are blinking (one is steady green, two are blinking orange).
When I go into the command prompt and type ipconfig or ipconfig/all, nothing useful comes up (just "Windows IP Configuration" and then nothing). When I go to network connections, one connection shows up: it says "1394 connection" and it's connected and firewalled, but when I right-click on it and go to "Status," I'm not getting any packets.
If I right-click on it and then hit "Repair," I get an error message that says "Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed: Failed to query TCP/IP settings of the connection. Cannot proceed."
Can anyone help me with this problem? Do I just have to figure out the right IP address to put into the TCP/IP properties, or is it something else?
Thanks,
