Wouldn't you just not go out with them in the first place? Cause isn't their name one of the first things you learn about them?

Maybe?

I don't think I would start to date someone if they had a name I couldn't live with... so, no, I wouldn't dump them b/c of their name.

I couldn't date anyone with the same name as an ex-bf.

Yeah, I think we are all coming to the same conclusion here that we wouldn't date a bitch named "Satan" in the first place

I have this friend who broke up with a guy because his name was Fabian or some shit like that...

She said she felt superficial, but it's not like she could stop calling him his name....his ass got dropped cause of his name...LOL...and she broke up with someone because of their name...LOL...people are always entertaining, no?

My brother dated a girl who had the same name as his best friend (a guy), he just couldn't call her that so he always called her by her last name.

Also, one of my friends dated a Gertrude, but a lot of times he just called her Trude.

All that being said, I don't care what their name is, I'd just give them a nickname if their name was horible.

i've thought about this before but in a little different way
as in not breaking up but not even moving forward

i have never had luck with girls named christie, kristie and crystal so that may just be a deal breaker

^^Well, that is because they were most likely white trash.

I'd imagine the same would go for a Misty, Billie, or Bobbie, or any "Jo" names.

^^i made the thread about dating someone with the same name as you. that might be the thread others were thinking about.

but yeah, i think a name can be a deal breaker. you have to worry about things like family events, cards, etc etc where that name comes into play.

I can't think of a situation where if I liked someone as a person I would refuse to date them because of their name. I dated someone with a weird name for a couple years and the weirdness goes away pretty fast.

i know a few old women named Sadie and went to HS w/ a girl named sadie and didn't think of her as having an old lady name though

Nah it wouldn't be an issue for me

I'd just never address them by their real name if I hated it

I couldn't deal with calling someone I'm fucking Peggy...that name just screams obese soccer mom to me

I'd just make up a nickname like P Jizzle or something cool like that

They're gone in a heartbeat. As for the name thing... it would be a difficult barrier to overcome if it was an ex's name, but if she's the right one I'd obviously do it or call her by a nickname

unusual names are pretty cool, but granny names / parent names would at the least earn her a disparaging nickname

What about unfortunate last names? In particular, from the female perspective, as it could leave you with a ridiculous name after marriage? Two that stand out in my mind as being pretty bad after marriage were my typing teacher in middle school, Sherell Ferrell (what are the odds considering that's a much more unusual spelling than the standard Cheryl) and a woman whose office computer I used to support, Carol Carroll.

That's sorta their own fault, though: they didn't have to take the last name.

Unfortunately my sister had a friend named Katrina Raper... And she went by "Kat."
