What the hell is up with the government lately? It seems like there is so much corruption, lying, and misleading going on during the reign of the republicans that our system is simply fucked. And now the FCC? Come on!

Id be interested to see how this plays out and how policies change, penalties are assessed, and overall governance of communications changes after they are done with this guy.

Oh great, a liberal db from Chapel Hill that isn't informed.

Lets look at a different take on this, from ars, who is typically unbiased

http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20081209-congress-busts-kevin-martins-chops-demands-change-at-fcc.html

In re of your "republicans" comment

Quote :
"The move so outraged one of Martin's fellow Republicans, Robert McDowell, that McDowell alleged that "books have been cooked." "

Also, it almost looks like Martin is just inept because half the time he seems to be siding with consumers and the other half with big business.

Here he is trying to reign in business, for instance
http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20071127-fcc-plan-to-regulate-cable-stalls.html
Quote :
"Martin has been the driving force behind an FCC finding that was to have been considered this morning. That finding would state that cable had in fact exceeded both thresholds, opening the door to possible à la carte regulations and certain kinds of price controls."

I figure a good little liberal like you would love that.

This probably sums it up

Quote :
"We published a somewhat sympathetic portrait of Martin and his tenure earlier this year, based largely on the decisions that agency adopted during his watch. But clearly problems exist when it comes to process and transparency. While Martin oversaw the Comcast smackdown this year, the recent white spaces vote, and numerous other matters of interest to consumers, he also aroused so much irritation among FCC staffers that some dressed in black earlier this year in a "silent but expressive protest" of his tenure. "
