She's going to like the box the toy came in more anyway, so just skip the middle man and get her a big cardboard box.

^^^^ that's been my experience so far

she has more toys than she can play with, anyway...I was trying to think outside of the box and get her something cool.

legos are awesome, start her on those as soon as shes old enough not to eat them.

for now id recommend some variety of big keyboard like the kind with fat colorful keys that plays chimes or the electronic equivalent, little kids love those and it supposedly makes them smarter

^^^^hahaha, that would be awesome.

^the keyboard (and other instruments) have the bonus of irritating mom, if that's a consideration. two is a great age to start with the harmonica & drum sets as well.

but seriously, that's a great website. she's too young for the pissing babydolls, etc. though my niece was into dressing up even at that age.

ears are pierced, and my mom is already getting her some more earrings

she already has several of the toys on the Top 20 page that GoldenGirl posted, and toys similar to a few more.

she has shit tons of toys that she doesn't play with because they're buried under other toys. i have no idea how many of her clothes her mother has given away with the tags still on them.

those Magneatos look sort of cool, though.

^^^^^^^^ ha, i'd be fairly satisfied if I could just pay for her and not line her mother's pockets

^^^^^^^^^ i'll have to look through there more tomorrow. it's 9am, and i'm tired and going to bed.

^^^^^^^^^^^ she has the musical station on the Top 20 page, a keyboard, and a xylophone already

[Edited on December 11, 2008 at 1:11 AM. Reason : ^ thought about that, but i want to get her something fun for Christmas]

^^ i'm not socking away any more money than i already do...it's already a bunch. i have to enjoy myself, too.

besides, i can use my GI Bill for her if I need to, and by the time she goes to college, I should have enough wealth accumulated and enough income that it won't matter.

I'll still probably make her take out student loans, but then pay them off for her on the day she graduates.

______

I had a really smart financial plan for her mother and I to provide for her and save a little all along in tax-advantaged accounts for her college, but then her mother figured out how much of a profit she could turn by sueing me. At $1007/month (which will go up even more whenever it occurs to her to get an update on my pay and sue me again), I'm not putting any additional money into a college plan right now.

dude, I save/invest about $1100/month, and have for several years (and did about half that for a couple of years before that). There will be plenty by the time either either of us need it...the rest is for me to enjoy.

i thought about getting her a little life jacket and a little aviation headset to take her boating and flying when I get back, but I don't want to stir the pot with her mother and have her be more of a pain in the ass than she is already likely to be about me bringing her up to NC for visitation.

blocks are always a good choice. hell i'd still dig a box of blocks to build with.

but since it's a little girl i have no clue. a dolly i guess or a house or maybe a doll with a mini fridge that she can leave passive aggressive notes to her doll about how "someone" keeps lying on the floor to be stepped on. anything that fosters dishonest manipulation
