I'm in the Residence Inn in downtown Charlotte looking for a good place to eat tonight.

I was hoping to find a bar/grill to be able to drink a couple beers and watch the game tonight.

It's on the corner of Mint and Martin Luther King Jr.

I don't know about Mint and 2nd. That might be on the other side of the building.

^Mert's does look good but I was looking for a place with a bar I could sit at. I might try that tomorrow after the interview.

Merts is awesome but make sure you go during a busy time. My wife and I went there one time during non peak hours and we were the only white folks in the place and the wait staff ignored us forever...

Cosmos Cafe is decent too, but a bit pricey. It's kinda Tapas-y.

my bad, 2nd Street = MLKJ

my advice to you is this: basically walk east on MLKJ towards downtown...when you get to Church Street (about 1-2 blocks from your hotel), take a left...there are a number of bars on Church between 3rd and say 8th...also the next two streets over parallel to Church (Tryon and College) also have a number of bars and restaurants between about 3rd and 8th streets

there is a Stool Pigeon's at 6th and Church...there is a Fox and Hound at Tryon and 7th...there is a Cans at I think 5th and Graham (Graham is actually the other direction down MLKJ)

those are 3 sports bars, but like i said, theres a ton of places in the College-3rd-Church-8th rectangle

If you're heading over there, might as well hit up the Comet. It's a dive, but the food is excellent.

of those 3 places...eh...tough call...i'd say they're all a little better than average...but they at least have restaurant food, not just bar food

I'll probably just walk down to where Twist said and try one of those places

Any other suggestions?

I would watch the game at Black Finn. Huge sports bar in the epicentre (trade and college)..I would eat at ri ra's but they aren't a big sports bar place.

Best sports bars are Black Finn, Hooters, Dixies, and Phil's.
