Is it legal to have a gun in your car/truck without a CC permit?

Can I carry my gun on a hike to protect myself from animals without a CC permit?

keep it out on the seat. In the glove compartment is concealed.

Wear it in a holster on your belt.

I think you can also transport it in your trunk as long as it's out of reach.

^^yes, unless some hippie calls the cops and tells them you were waving around like a madman. That would require you to answer a lot of questions, but it's legal if not concealed.

if you have it in your car, it has to either be in plain sight or locked in the trunk where you can't get to it. In other words, it can't be under your seat. Whenever I go to the range, I put mine on my dashboard, unloaded with the magazine removed, and the slide open.

as for taking it hiking, absolutely, as long as it is visible and not concealed. Shit, you can walk down the street with the motherfucker as long as it can be seen.

sweet. i've been charged by the nc wildlife for something when even the cmpd/homicide investigators didn't charge me. I hate those fuckers and don't want to risk it.

that being said, certain parks may have rules against firearms. so check into that before you go walking through a public park with a gun.

^ I was just about to say that. Make sure you aren't in a federal park either. You don't want to bring a gun onto federal property.

I wouldn't have one in your car on campus either. I am pretty NCSU does not allow firearms of any kind on campus.

North Carolina General Statute ยง 14-269.2 provides that it is a Class I felony for any person to possess or carry, whether openly or concealed, any gun, rifle, pistol, or other firearm of any kind, on educational property or to a curricular or extra-curricular activity sponsored by a school.

even with a CC permit, you can't carry your firearm anywhere that firearms are not permitted

wearing it on your belt is probably not the best idea in a car since it likely wouldn't be to visible to anyone standing outside the car; i'm fairly certain that you can carry it in you glove box as long as it's locked, but someone else can look up the case law

im looking for a good compact but good enough size grip because i got a big hand, but with enough caliber in it. nothing smaller that a .308 and not a .40.

i already own a springfield XD tactical .45

looking for something small enough to not be noticed when i carry or in a good concealed spot in my truck

i love a Taurus PT145...10+1 double stacked .45 ACP, black and stainless

my pinky hangs off the stock when theres no mag in it, but it fits me fine with a mag in it, so you'd want to obviously feel it before you bought it, but I recommend it

^haha i think he must've meant .380 and accidentally typed .308

^correct, i didnt pay attention there.

it just depends, like i really liked my XD, my first pistol and i got it and never have found anything wrong. my buddies have played with it and found they really liked it. so much that one of them went and bought one of a different color two weeks later'

really just looking at anything but really want something thats comfortable to hold, barrel length and caliber size is flexible

i have a 4" .40 XD and its almost too small for my hands but luckily the mags have a plastic piece at the bottom that extends the length slightly...y 5" .45 XD obviously has a larger grip but is a little too big for concealed

my advice is still to check out the PT145 at your local gun shop...i'm carrying mine right now

i like the MPSC

glock's sc not so much

I'm a big enough dude that carrying around my PT24/7 is comfortable on me (I don't really need a subcompact)

I might get a SC eventually, but I'm gonna get a J-Frame first

The state recommends not transporting guns in the glove box, locked or not.

sometimes that's the best place to store it, e.g. hatchbacks and trucks or when you have kids in the car

in NC, a glove box is considered concealing the weapon, and is not allowed without permit. You can place it on your passenger seat, dash, or center console tray if your vehicle has one.
SC only allows transport in glove box, loaded or not, without CCW.
