I have a bank account with Navy Fed. that I keep no money in until my student loan posts into in, then I use all the money until it runs out for books, tuition, rent, etc. I haven't used the account since it was left with $0.18 cents in it since November 12. They just charged me a $25.00 dollar returned check fee which overdrafted me. Does anyone know of this occuring completely unwarranted? I plan on calling them tomorrow to straighten it out, but it mainly makes me ask, "WTF Navy Federal?".

I've had Navy Fed forever, and this has never happened, also, I'm in the Marines....kinda.

how do you have a returned check and an overdraft?
12/16/2008 1:57:52 AM
They randomly charged me a returned check fee which overdrafted my account. I have not used my account in over a month and I had no automatic bill payments on that account. It was a completely unwarranted charge.

was it a checking account? They probably have fees to hold open a checking account, usually it is very small, maybe $ .25-1.00. But if they tried to take it out, you didn't have enough so it "bounced" and they charge you an overdraft.

It is a checking account. I don't know, that doesn't make sense to me. I'm going to call them tomorrow to find out wtf is up, unless you can provide me with an answer

Did you pay for anything with a check? If so, have you cleared your checkbook to make sure that everyone cashed the checks you gave? If not, someone might have been sitting on it for a month for whatever reason--laziness, whatever--and then finally got around to going to the bank.

I don't have checks for this account for that very reason so, no.

This did not warrant the use of the (words) warning.

that's why it says "....sorta" after "Words" in the title

You gotta grant that TWWers are pussies when it comes to reading posts more than three lines long.

If it's more than 2 lines long, I usually half-way read it.

Why don't you make a post about it instead of calling your bank and figuring out what happened.

I have had Navy Fed for over 11 years now, and they have always been really helpful. Just call and see what the problem is, and I am guessing they will help you out.
