I'm currently an NCSU student, and made a random website in a few hours and I think it could actually have potential. Basically you just enter in someone's address and we send them a letter via snail mail letting them know how much their lawn sucks anonymously.

http://www.yourlawnsucks.com

Ideally I'd want to get the price of each letter high enough that people find it novel and pass it along word of mouth, ergo, vis a vis, concordantly, and just make money through ads.

I realize the site itself is completely stupid so save the posts saying it's dumb, because I already know this haha.

Best!

Jm

but hey, on a side note, the money from advertising pays the bills, so the more 'lame as fuck' sites you do, the less you have to work

Great! Another website for people with no balls.

(nothing against the OP, you are only seizing the opportunity to make money off of these cowards)

see and I agree with you on that, that's why I'm wondering if I should make signatures mandatory? or how I'd even be able to regulate that,

I have it setup so you can send a letter to one address only once, so people don't get spammed

so you actually fork over the stamp if they use the "free" letter?

yeah the burn rate is pretty minimal, I have direct advertisers lined up for about a year that agree to cover postage, envelopes, printing, etc.

but the shitty thing is that paypal takes .30 for each transaction, and then 2.5% on top of each transaction,

any advice on a good price for the initial letter? I honestly haven't thought through much of it and just winged it

perhaps make the first basic letter someone sends out free, and then charge like $1 or something (less than the $5 premium letter). limit it by email address maybe? people on here are smart enough to get around that by using multiple email addresses, but the average person probably isn't going to think to do that

anyways im off to work. i need to send one of these letters to the mexicans who landscape my building. they've been lacking lately.

I have it so it's actually only one per physical address,

I'm thinking pricing for the letters

letter 1 - 1.99
letter 2 - 2.99
letter 3 - 3.99

something standard, that way i don't get raped by paypal's transaction fees

I'm new to forums, is the 'buy an ad' thing a standard saying if the post appears to just be a plug?

I mean I'm a current NCSU student asking for thoughts on it, it's not like I'm a journalist from UNC writing on the wolf web, nor am I asking for any support, just opinions.

what if you don't know their email address.

or you could always just make up a fake email and send it to them yourself.

right,

to clarify, the target-email address can only be pinged once to prevent spam

I sure didn't read this thread, but why would people pay your stupid ass to do this when this is something they can do on their own? Just sans the return address? HELLO DIPSHIT!

Or how about, your lack of concern for your own property is costing me literally tens of thousands dollars in property value. Or, how about, you are the reason that HOA exist (which I fucking hate).

"you got that trademark awful fast..."

-® Means it went through secretary of state

"honestly, if anything.. it should be a physical letter sent to their mailbox."

-it is a physical letter

"MIND YOUR OWN DAMN BUSINESS. IT'S NOT YOUR LAWN."

-again I really could careless how your lawn is, however it's the fact that you live in a neighborhood: "neighborly conduct, friendliness," from neighbor + -hood (q.v.). Modern sense of "community of people who live close together" is first recorded 1625. So if you want to look like you live in a shanty, go buy some property in the middle of no where and no one would worry about it.

i think this is a pretty funny idea.

You should make a website that sends anonymous letters for "You're a bad roommate", I think IMStoned420 would be a big customer.

- The same reason people take their clothes to the dry cleaners, or pay someone to cut their grass, the ease of use. You might be a socialist as well, which is why the whole making money thing isn't as clear to you. Plus the entire point of the site is to be novel enough (which it already has proven to be) to lock in direct advertisers, which pay for my car, rent, and food every month. So at the end of the day stupid idea or not, it took me 2 days to develop, and saved me the trouble of getting a job.

- That would be a good idea if you would pose it as a site where friends are tired of hearing about how bad their friends roommates are "that way it doesn't appear to come from a direct roommate even though I'm sure they'd get the hint". If you could even make a simple roommate task list / quick forum that just pinged out an email if someone wanted the dishes washed, or made tasks for each other, I really think that'd work well.

whatever dude, you are one stupid mother fucker though. I'm sure you are just raking in the dough hand over fist with this brilliant idea. You are probably the next Bill Gates.

Why don't you also make a website to tell people to clean their houses, faggot.

no, but he is trying to get people to visit his piece of shit idea for a website on a college message board. I'm willing to be that 95% of the people on this website don't even have a neighbor who has a lawn, thereby just validating how fucking retarded this clown is.
