So first off... i did a google search and tried browsing around the various honda and civic specialty forums. HOLY FUCKING SHIT THOSE PEOPLE ARE STUPID. For the sake of my own sanity i figured i'd post in here.

95 civic lx 1.5 D15B7. 238k miles on original alternator. Just installed my old 600w infinity amp and 10" sub last weekend- already having voltage issues. Alternator is in process of shitting itself, I'm hoping there is some another alternator with similar physical dimensions that will get me in the 100amp+ range. The stocker is just 70. Anyone know of any direct or easy fits? If not i'll just spend the day at work goin through every box on the shelf measuring them.

you really shouldnt have a prob with a stock civic alt.

plenty of mexicans have blasted systems with stock components.

you can have one built or check with some good stereo shops and see what they have in stock

that car will not run a higher amp alternator, just get another battery or a capacitor, a higher amp alternator will stall the engine at idle with the system turned up

with that many miles on it i say slap some new brushes in there, which can be done without even taking it off the car, and get the capacitor...

Triangle Alternator and Starter built me a custom, upgraded alternator for my Rx-7. The factory specs are 70amp peak output, he bumped it up to 145 amps, and retained the stock case and wiring for a bolt-in installation. It was $120. Now that doesn't mean your alternator will be $120, but he's a decent guy with good prices. The only minor annoyance about the shop is that they aren't very good about calling you back--you need to do the calling pretty much.

i can believe that. before this one started acting flaky it would pull the idle down to well under 500 rpm on a hard bass note.

i had been considering getting one built, there used to be a guy that did great work here in Hendersonville, but he's retired now.

anyone happen to have any alternator shop recommendations in the western nc/upstate sc area?

worst case i'll just get the "lifetime" pile o shit from work (advance) and swap out every couple of months.

I do have a group 51 yellow top optima battery under the hood now. have another i'm thinking about trunk mounting along with a cap.

This shit is the whole reason i've been dragging my feet on installing this shit- i knew that little turd couldnt handle it
