You finally get a cab? Hope you got a bigger compressor as well!
I am gonna have a load of stuff (a frame, a roof rack, some smaller shit) headed to greensboro in a few weeks to get acid dipped/stripped if you are interested. 12/27/2008 9:26:52 PM |

same compressor, just let it take breaks I'll probably get a bigger tank and plumb that in so I have a bigger reserve capacity. the compressor can handle it I just run out of air quickly. 12/28/2008 10:41:50 PM |

LOL
youll need more than one more tank, go ahead and start buying dead compressors on craigslist for the tanks, and begin plumbing them together, but thats still gonna tax that compressor. 12/28/2008 11:58:22 PM |

matt, i got you covered on a LARGE reservoir. we'll just plumb in an old water heater. you'll want to flush it really well and possibley line it with the stuff you can do gas tanks with to eliminate any sediment problems if it's an older unit. i might be able to score you something not very old where that wouldn't be a problem though.
that's basically what i plan to do at my house. i'm going to mount it down in the storage room in the carport though, then run air up to the garage through the water/electrical conduit. that way i don't have to deal with the noise plus i've got air access at the driveway for swapping out tires or any other minor little things i might want to do down there.
there's always building your own out of a sheet of thin plate also... i'm sure your welds have gotten good enough.

I think he has a baby cabinet anyhow from the sound of it.
Brian, Ill be glad to throw the hydrant in with my batch of stuff for the acid stripper. Assuming it isnt covered in rust, it will come back bare metal. 12/30/2008 10:25:16 PM |

you should do it on the engine with it running so you polish the head ports too, imo 2/1/2009 2:04:19 AM |

great idea.
its pretty small. let's put it this way. if you cant sandblast a civic intake manifold. you really cant sand blast much of anything. could fit in a large cooler.

its aluminum, just degrease it and hit it with some aluminim cleaner. or soda blast it. or maybe even glass bead, but sandblasting is gonna leave it looking like garbage. 2/2/2009 9:06:04 AM |

sandblasting aluminum to leave it bare isn't a good idea, it will pick up grease, fingerprints, and oxidize quickly 2/2/2009 6:08:10 PM |

Whats an intake? 2/2/2009 8:48:06 PM |
Hurley Suspended 7284 Posts user info edit post |
i usually include anything before the actual intake valve as part of the "intake"
more specifically, I was going for that thing that looks like a hand with the 4 finger-looking pieces, usually made of cast aluminum, and if extrude honed will net something in the 2-5whp range for the honda motors.

yeah, yeah, I'm sporting wood also
