I have saved the data from my mini DVDs to my computer. I would like to use Nero 8 (came with my dvd burner) to create some DVD's to send to family.
When I try and load the data from 7 mini DVDs they all have the same name, nero will not let me add them with the same name.... if I change the name I'm afraid they will not work properly? Do I need to put ALL of the file names into nero, or just the .IFO and .VOB files?
I have no, nada experience with this and would appreciate any help you can offer. 12/27/2008 9:39:36 PM |

they all have the same name because that's the standard structure of a DVD
you'll need another program that can either combine the VOBs or split them up into seperate titles 1/5/2009 9:55:56 AM |

I'm using Nero 8, no experience with it... seems like it should work. I'm away from my desk at the moment... so you can't just change the names of the files? 1/5/2009 12:14:59 PM |

No. All DVD video is in ONE file (VIDEO_TS if i remember correctly).. they have the same name and every DVD that will play in a regular DVD player is like that so that the DVD player knows what to play.
You need a program that will take the video from all the individual files that are named the same and combine them into one file. Renaming is not an option at all here. 1/5/2009 12:19:40 PM |

okay, my burner came with nero 8 - doesn't sound like that is going to work.
Any suggestions on what I CAN use?
I do not need to edit the video.. basically just going to take 2 mini DVD-Rs and put on one DVD-r, straight copy.
Thanks for the help. 1/5/2009 2:13:30 PM |

no shit nero isn't going to work. evan told you that from the beginning. i'm not sure what will do it easily honestly.. maybe someone else does.
you could always rip them both to avi files then from there it should be easy to do.. and i think nero might can handle it from there.1/5/2009 2:28:06 PM |

You can use nero recode to make a dvd with each vob stream as a separate title. 1/5/2009 3:56:31 PM |

^^^ so, that means I would not be able to put two mini DVDs on one DVD-R though, correct?
I would really prefer to consolidate these. 1/5/2009 5:29:06 PM |

no. exactly the opposite, in fact.
right now, you have a lot of DVDs. each of these contains two folders: VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS. in these folders, you have one or multiple VOB files that actually contain the video and/or audio data of said DVDs.
you need to find a program that will make a dvd with each of those VOBs as a separate title. they will all be on the one normal-sized dvd.
it sounds like nero recode will do this, although i've personally never used it.
