Alright, I've spent about 4 hours searching the internet and trying various fixes with no luck.
I got a Xbox 360 Arcade Edition today. Brought it home and hooked up the xbox with an ethernet cord to my wireless router (Netgear Rangemax WPN824). My computer is in the same room as my 360 and is also plugged up to the Netgear Router. The router is hooked up to a generic modem from Time Warner.
I can connect to the internet with my computer. I can connect to xbox live with my 360. I can go into Windows Media Player > Library > Media Sharing and my PC recognized my 360. I've allowed it to share. When I run the tests on the 360, it shows a connection to the network but cannot locate my PC.
I've reviewed every firewall issue I could find on the net and I've gone into Netgear and forwarded all the firewalls recommended.
Any other ideas? 12/28/2008 5:00:24 PM |

I had the same problem and it was pissing me off for weeks:
To fix it : - I rolled back all of WMP 11 - Removed the System Protected directory 'DRM' in Documents and Settings/All Users - Follow instructions on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/891664/en-us - Re-install WMP11 - Reconfigure media sharing 12/28/2008 6:52:39 PM |

I havent been able to get mine to connect to vista in over a fucking year.
On the other hand, it took 10 minutes to get it to connect to xp.

when i was running XP, i think i had to disable simple sharing or something to get it to work. in windows explorer, go to tools -> options -> 2nd tab, there's an option toward the bottom 12/28/2008 8:55:29 PM |
