I need to get XP to be able to run a couple database softwares for work. I currently have Acer Aspire AS6920-6441 and a copy of XP I got from work. I don't mind using XP at all.

But I am a completely computer stupid and I am not sure how it works,

So I would like for someone to help me install XP AND make sure everything work like its suppose to...like updating with all the correct XP drivers and what not...

Feel free to name your price, I was thinking maybe I can buy you lunch or something....

THANKS

My standard fee for these tasks is $40. I too have to do it at my office, but I work/live right near the $1.50 movie theater off of blue ridge.

I will do it for 40$ but you will have to bring it to my office as well. I am at the Municipal building at 222 W. Hargett st. in the IT department.

I am happy to pay,

But can any of you guarantee that you will make it work? I am reading all these horror stories online about laptops being screwed up/not function properly after downgrading from Vista to XP. T

Do you seriously have a reason for needing XP? I can seriously tweak and get that thing to boot up intensely fast. I love Vista man...it's good stuff.

I ran into that problem with a laptop or 2. And if you were paying me to do it, I can't "make" it work if there aren't drivers for yours machine. And there's really no 100% way to verify beforehand...You just install and hope for the best with a built-for-vista laptop.

I'd just install (or have someone install) VMWare Server and use that to run XP. You'll just need a bunch of RAM, and hopefully a decent processor.

Are you SURE you can't make your "database softwares" work in XP? At the most basic level Vista has a compatibility mode help with stuff that only runs on XP,98 etc. What "database softwares" do you need XP to run?
