entitled? Please
He probably feels entitled to other drivers ceding their right of way to him as he yaks on a cell phone while driving in the rain with his lights off, to Little Timmy being made captain of the Little League team, and a reserved pew at First Baptist.

If only that were an option...

it is an option. He doesn't have to sign up for a flat rate with a company that offers usage rates as a payment option too.

Not about the money.

About the clear lack of critical thought from the president of a company. And/or the far-too-common 'we're gonna cite the hard economy as an excuse to raise costs to the consumer, regardless of whether or not that's the cause'.

Seriously...thinking that a company is entitled to a 'reasonable' rate of return? No, you fucking retard...you work for that shit

I'm on well water

they're already working for it. If they weren't delivering water and sewer services to people already and tried to charge them money for something they're not using, then you'd have room to bitch.

A utility that's losing money isn't doing anyone a favor. Who are you going to whine to when the utility goes bankrupt and doesn't have money or open lines of credit to perform basic maintenance?

I didn't say they weren't working for it.

I just said they're not entitled.

And if the president of the company can't choose his words well, he should consider hiring a spokesperson, so he doesn't have to.

*ENTITLED* to a reasonable rate of return?

No, sir...You have to earn it. Rate of return on an investment (like, say, what you get in the stock market, or what a bank gets on a loan) is based on risk. It's not some automatic source of income.

Go chew on a lead pipe. I'm glad I'm on a well.

Edit

Can someone provide some backstory? Just what is the reason for the rate increase...now? Did they spend the 60 million and now they want a return. I'm a bit miffed how a water utility can be so effected from the economy unless they invested profits and cash in markets and lost or something.

Also, I doubt seriously a water utility would get into a situation where it couldn't deliver water to it's customers barring a drought. If it got to a point where they were out of cash to pay the creditors, they'd go into bankruptcy just like every other company and would continue to operate under that umbrella.
