What the crap, what does it do?
1/3/2009 2:39:34 AM
i would like to have one^photoshop, son. photoshop.]
1/3/2009 2:39:47 AM
it's like a touchpadexcept really expensive and it has a stylus
1/3/2009 2:40:29 AM
Hmm, my mom does a lot of photoshop/graphics work, I wonder if she'd like one for her birthday. She's an artist, so she could probably do some cool stuff with one.
1/3/2009 2:42:02 AM
^ Yeah, I bet she would like it, especially if she already uses Photoshop. One of the cool things it does in photoshop is it varies the weight of your strokes depending on how much pressure you put on the pad. ^^^ Yeah, I would have never of bought one for myself (I'm a cheapskate) but I'm enjoying having one
1/3/2009 2:44:34 AM
anyone who actually knows how to properly use photoshop would appreciate a wacom tableti can guarantee this
1/3/2009 2:45:41 AM
tip: start out by tracing over photos in new layers in photoshop once you get the feel for how it responds, move on to new stuff...
1/3/2009 2:56:27 AM
^ Thanks, I'll try that out now
1/3/2009 2:57:02 AM
i've used the digipro 5.5x4" tablet and its a good, inexpensive tablet for starting out. wacom tablets are definitely better though if you've got the cash.
1/3/2009 3:00:28 AM
man, when i get home i'm installing the software on my laptop, because i NEVER use my desktop now...
1/3/2009 3:01:14 AM
I've had a 8x10 wacom (graphire, though, I believe yours is a bamboo?) for almost four years, never had a hitch. I use it to draw, and as my "mouse." That's what I suggest for people to get used to one, though- use it as a mouse for an hour or two. As soon as you get the hang of that, the pressure sensitivity and things you can do in photoshop quickly follow. (And they're really not that expensive. You can get a smallish wacom one for 70ish bucks, and other brands can be even cheaper. They make digital artwork so much less of a hassle.)

i've got a intuos 3 9x12i like it, but i really wish i had just sucked it up, saved and bought a cintiqit all makes me crazy though cause it just ain't paper
1/3/2009 2:21:36 PM

1/3/2009 2:32:48 PM
yeahi mean i could buy a cintiq right now...and i bet it would be the fucking ballsbut i'm just not sure it's really gonna give me that holy grail of interfaces i'm really looking for[Edited on January 3, 2009 at 2:35 PM. Reason : +]
1/3/2009 2:35:06 PM
marko, why don't you get a Livescribe set and see if that works for you http://www.livescribe.com/smartpen/desktop.htmlthough i guess you could just draw and scan it in normallyhmm, nevermindi'm still going to post this anyway, you can't stop me
1/3/2009 2:38:59 PM
lol
1/3/2009 2:40:48 PM
i wonder how a tablet pc would work[Edited on January 3, 2009 at 2:43 PM. Reason : you could probably get one significantly cheaper than a cintiq]
1/3/2009 2:42:59 PM
they aren't pressure sensitive though
1/3/2009 2:53:21 PM
we had one exactly like the one pictured, but it was branded Bamboo and not wacom. i didn;t like it for everyday applications.
1/3/2009 4:46:15 PM
^bamboo is a line of wacom tablets[Edited on January 3, 2009 at 4:47 PM. Reason : pretty crappy ones, at that]
1/3/2009 4:47:25 PM
I wouldn't say the Bamboo is crappy. I think they're just geared towards the casual tablet user. Unless you need it for work or something I don't know why you would spend big bucks on a tablet.

Tough/stupid to use on everyday tasks like web browsing, but absolute $$$$$ in photoshop. I've got the next model up. Same size, like 1000 more sensitivity readings. I still think that this is the perfect size - doesn't take up your whole desk but big enough to get the job done with 'strokes'

1/4/2009 11:42:40 AM
^(max) My wife got me the exact same thing It's harder to use than a mouse, though, because the cat keeps trying to knock the pen out of my hand.
