There's nothing genetic about it, you just need to 1) ignore what you think you're suppose to see 2) refocus your eyes

Everyone can focus their eyes differently (you are constantly doing it naturally), but you can't look AT the patterns, you have to wait for whatever is in the picture to come in to focus.

An easy way for me at the beginning was to put my nose right up to the image, and slowly move back, WITHOUT refocusing on the image again, and you'll get it. it "feels" like you're crossing your eyes, but you're not really, but sometimes when you cross your eyes and uncross them, you "accidentally" hit the right focus to see the image.

You've got to unfocus your eyes to the degree where one column of near-identical images lines up with another, and then the slight discrepancies will make the "magic" image.

I was outstanding at these things out of the books, but I'm having a much harder time getting them to work on a computer screen. Mostly it's just the first image in the thread I can't get but that might just be because it's too fucking small.

Edit: Got it, apparently you're only supposed to shift by one column. Which is absurd given how tiny it is and the fact that I could easily shift 3 or 4.

I always focus on something a foot or two "behind" the image. Makes it pretty easy for me.

^ I don't perceive it as shifting columns, it feels like i'm staring farther in the distance, like when you zone out or something.
