i lived in south dakota for 11 years, nebraska is better than both iowa and south dakota, and kansas is better then nebraska... im also going by the vacations we took in each state when i was a kid

its definitely placed in a good spot. not too far from a bunch of different kinds of towns out midwest like chicago and the twin cities, kcmo, etc. none too awesome, but lots of small hops away from a new life
