My parents are coming up tomorrow and we're going to get lunch. I don't know any places to eat other than Ruckus, so what's good that's a little more up scale around here?

I've been to 501 West before for dinner (thx to a TWWr) but have no idea what their lunch is like.

^I'm eating a can of pringles right now, I'm good. Besides this is for tomorrow.

Both Porters and Sullivans look about right, looking at the websites and menus. Any opinions between the two?

Really, you should go to the McDonalds on Gorman and Western for dessert. It's cool as hell in there since the upgrade, a nice tourist attracting for people to come and visit.

[Edited on January 9, 2009 at 4:18 PM. Reason : lol, macdonalds]

Diarrhea Pockets!

^Good idea, maybe get like milkshakes or something. They're not State fans other than the fact I go here for school, but its still a sweet McDonald's. Plus its right across the street from where I live

Go to Porter's, it's quite good, reasonable at lunch, and right here on Hillsborough.

Failing that, 518 West is still good for lunch...you could go downtown to The Pit for some bbq (despite the name it's one of the nicer bbq places around here, plus it's good)...if they like sushi you could do Sushi Tsune on Hillsborough or Waraji on Duraleigh...despite its reputation as a night spot/martini bar Bogart's actually has quite good food and is a nice lunch option too.

I've heard Sullivan's is good but I've never been there myself.

Please to not go to The Village Draft House. Ugh.

I had asked for 3 types of beer, and they were out of ALL of them...then waitress suggested some samples for me. Brings back 2 and 1 had a big ass fly/bug in it. EWW!

Then after we got our beer situtation straight, she forgot out wings (40 minutes later).....ugh! Then we get wings (not the way we requested) and our food wasn't that good.

Cooper's > The Pit

Though the barbecue at the Pit is good, you can also get it in better presentation at Raleigh Times and the sides are better.

that's a shame- I've never had a problem there (other than soggy pickle chips one time)... it is by far my favorite out of that chain of restaurants (and my least favorite being the one they opened where highbeams used to be out on us 70/401)

try bella monica. Cute place, wont loose your shirt, close, good staff, and they are open for lunch

i also second Dalat but i wouldn't exactly call it upscale
