I was thinking about this last night with all the Anti-Jake threads, but I never got around to posting a thread about it.

Prior to 1995 when the Panthers joined the NFL, what was your favorite NFL team and why?

i didnt watch a whole lot before they started up
i think when i did, i liked the 49ers. This is most likely due to the plethora of 49ers memorabilia at Dick's Hot Dog Stand in Wilson

^ yeah, I expected a lot of those. I know in the late 80's and early 90's this area was pretty much all Redskins and Cowboys fans.

It was 1993.
I was 10.
They went to the Superbowl.
I was allowed to stay up and watch it.
I cheered for the Cowboys.
I found that I LOVED football.
I was the only one in my family that liked football.
I cheered for the Cowboys.
Then Carolina got a team.
I cheered for Carolina.
Through thick and thin. Blacked-out games. 1-15 seasons.
I still cheer for Carolina.
Through thick and thin. 5 interceptions games. Embarrassing losses.

Never cared about the NFL before the Panthers, and still don't really except for Fantasy Football

I'm a Raleigh native, so college sports have always been king to me.

Why would a Panthers game EVER be blacked out in NC?

I believe it was during their 1-15 season, but I could be mistaken. I do remember being mad because I wanted to watch the game, and it wasn't on tv. Dad told me I could listen to it on the radio.

I get pissed that EVERY Panthers game is on TV EVERY Sunday, when there are usually other way better games on. I mean, I get it because they are our local team, but it still pisses me off

I don't think I really cared much.

My dad has never really been into any sports besides golf, and will occasionally watch an ACC basketball game.

When I would watch the superbowl as a kid my parents would watch Andy Griffith reruns in another room.

When I was little I was Redskins fan. It seemed like they, the buffalo bills, and the cowboys were always in a superbowl. I just fell on the redskins train and my dad helped me get off and hop on the Steelers train like 10 years ago lol. My HOME team is the Saints, so I'll always have them in a secret spot in my heart.

I've never been a Panther's fan though. If they go to the superbowl I'll support them because they're from NC and all, but that's it.

I liked the Colts, but once NC got their own team, the Colts lost their appeal real fast.

I'd probably pull for the panthers over the cowboys if they were to have met in the playoffs, but yeah, i still pull for them (and boy, I hope they don't get rid of TO...)

Dad still is, of course. Born and raised in NJ. I lived in NJ until I was 11, and I was 13 for the Panthers' first season.

I'd say I'm much more a Panthers fan now because they're readily available -- TV and attending games and all that.
