neomonde sells bags of irregular (read: overbaked and/or grossly misshapen) pitas in bags of 7 or 8 for $1.79.

The plain pitas are $1.25 for four.

I miss being able to buy pitas whenever I want. I recently learned how to make them though and it's pretty easy

^ Stuff stuff into the pocket to make a sandwich. Or cut it into wedges and dip it into something like hummus.

the pitas from neomonde don't really ahve pockets
I'm just tearing them up and eating them with meat and cheese

use it in place of regular bread, really.

They're not that big. One pita can make you one sandwich.

Don't.
Hell, I'll even make you some. My friend's dad is from palestine, and she says mine is as good as her dad's. Basically, it's as awesome as I am.

It's not going to be cheaper than the food dog bread. But it's going to taste way better, and be better for you. No HFCS in neomonde stuff.

I broil them. I posted it in the lounge in the recipe thread at some point.

Use dried, soaked, uncooked chickpeas, though. Canned ones are too soft.

here:
1 pound dry garbanzo beans
1 onion, quartered
4 cloves garlic (or more if you love it like I do)
1 big bunch parsley, stems removed
salt, pepper, and a lot of cayenne, plus cumin and/or coriander if you have them, but I didn’t
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda

Soak beans for 24 hours, then drain and rinse well. Put beans and onion in a food processor, then process until finely chopped. Remove most of the bean mixture, then to the remainder add the garlic, parsley, spices, lemon juice and olive oil. Stir in with the rest of the mixture and refrigerate for 2 hours (I didn’t do this on my first batch and it turned out fine, but it was better after it refrigerated overnight). Stir in baking soda and flour, then form into patties (~1 inch across). Fry until brown and crispy, either deep-fry style or in a little bit of olive oil in a skillet. (Apparently I lied when I posted it before ... brush with a tad of oil and broil)

I just eyeballed the flour and baking soda, so that might need adjustment to help it stick together.

I had had it once before, a long time ago. And based on that time, I'd have agreed.
So since neomonde was not busy, for once, I asked for a sample.

It was slimy, and all I could taste was woodsmoke. It was disgusting. I'm kind of neutral on eggplant, and like moussaka. It's not that it's eggplant. It's something else that makes it gross.

Then you have never had my hummus.
My hummus, for serial, is better than neomonde's

you had bad stuff, I guess

traditionally the eggplant is roasted over coals but it doesn't have to taste like smoke

try making it at home to your own tastes
its very easy

2 cans drained chickpeas
1-3 cloves garlic, depending on your preference
1-3T lemon juice
2-3T tahini
salt to taste

It does blend. If you like runny hummus, don't drain the chickpeas completely. If you like a thick hummus, drain them very well.

I don't follow a recipe anymore, and I don't remember where I got the one that I started with. Now I just eyeball everything.
