So I have this HTC phone that isn't currently on a plan, used to be on a contract with Verizon, and now I want to get it on a prepaid plan.
1. Can I activate a (previously) contract phone on a prepaid plan?
2. Are there any carriers other than Verizon that may have better prepaid deals, while maintaining compatibility with the phone I have? 1/14/2009 1:19:36 PM |

obligatory: WHY DON'T YOU CALL VERIZON AND FIND OUT
But really, I don't know...
using http://www.google.com told me inconclusively yes and no.
So looks like going to a store or calling them would let you know what's up. Though I'd be willing to bet they'd try to sell you something different. 1/15/2009 9:34:46 AM |

Most contract phones can be done on prepay.
Your problem may come up because its a semi-smartphone by their standards, and thus may NOT be eligible for prepay. Something about the data usage of smartphones or something. If its WinMo then it used to be outside of the Palm/BB list of "smartphones". Hell I couldn't order the Palm/BB without tacking on a data package, but my HTC Athena could go just fine w/out because it had WinMo and a WiFi card, which is all I use for data. 1/15/2009 10:19:34 AM |
